Race 1 1400m Track: |
||||
|---|---|---|---|---|
|
A race that is devoid of early speed and it is hard to nominate a leader. ANNABELLE DIAMANTE (6) sets the standard after missing by only a neck when resuming at Sonoda in 3yo+ C3 grade, and that first-up improvement reads clearly stronger than most of these recent profiles. KURINO BIKKURIBAGO (2) is the most reliable danger, having placed at his past two starts and bringing a far deeper track-and-distance record, though his latest third was still beaten four and a half lengths. WONDER FLEX (3) has not won in 21 starts, but her last-start fifth was close enough to keep her in the minor-money mix if she improves again. LIGHT BRAVE (5) has the best historical Sonoda 1400m credentials of the chasing group, but his last two runs have been plain.

GENTLE SHOT
SHINOBU NODA 4YO BAY HORSE 57.0KG G1 Racing Co. Ltd. Dropped out to finish last behind Even Par at Sonoda two weeks ago, beaten out of sight after conceding a huge start and never entering the race. The run prior was only sixth behind A Shin Rikyu, beaten over 13 lengths at big odds. With no placing from 16 starts and no result from ten tries at this track and distance, he must find a sizeable turnaround. |

KURINO BIKKURIBAGO
Jun Fujikawa 8YO BAY HORSE 54.0KG Hiroharu Kurimoto Has put together consecutive thirds at Sonoda, most recently working home evenly behind A Shin Wicked when beaten four and a half lengths as an outside chance in betting. The previous placing came from a long way off them, so he is at least holding his form. Three wins and 13 places from 35 starts at this track and distance give him a strong base, and he looks the main threat to the favourite. |

WONDER FLEX
KOSAKU HORI 4YO BROWN FILLY 55.0KG Yoshinari Yamamoto Improved to finish fifth behind Ange Bonheur at Sonoda last start, beaten three and a half lengths after settling rearward and starting at big odds. That was a better effort than her prior sixth behind Bud Rosy, where she was beaten out of sight despite making some late ground. Still a maiden after 21 starts, but this latest run gives her a minor-money foothold. |

TOSHIKAZU OKADA 3YO BAY COLT 56.0KG Katsunari Hosokawa Returns from a five-week freshening after finishing second last behind Les Ailes Noires over 820m at Sonoda, well beaten and unwanted in the market. The start prior was another second-last effort over 820m, beaten over 15 lengths by Libellula. The class drop helps, but the rise in trip has to bring immediate improvement; a place is the realistic ceiling. |

LIGHT BRAVE
HIRONORI YAMAMOTO 6YO CHESTNUT HORSE 57.0KG Mill Farm Co. Ltd. Recent form has dropped away, with a seventh behind Glory One at Sonoda last start when beaten over 18 lengths at big odds after giving away a huge start. The run prior was no better, finishing last behind Noble Festa and beaten a long way. His three wins and ten places from 54 starts at this track and distance keep him in the place conversation, but he must rebound sharply. |

ANNABELLE DIAMANTE
ISAO NAGAKURA 4YO BAY HORSE 57.0KG YM Horse Lifted sharply when resuming at Sonoda, finishing second behind Wonder Aument in 3yo+ C3 grade and beaten a neck after being pipped right on the post. That was a clear turnaround from his March run behind Lilienfeld, where he was second last and beaten over 13 lengths. He remains a maiden, but the first-up placing, market respect and proven placing at this track and distance make him the runner they have to get past. |

LYS NOIR
TAKAO KURODA 6YO BROWN MARE 55.0KG Shadai Race Horse Co. Ltd. Finished last behind A Shin Rikyu at Sonoda four weeks ago, beaten over 16 lengths after settling back and making no impression. Her previous run was also last, beaten over 16 lengths by Al Rihla despite racing handier. Seven placings from 66 starts show she can occasionally run into a minor spot, but recent evidence points to a difficult assignment. |

HIMALAYAN
SHINOBU NODA 5YO BAY HORSE 55.0KG Could not improve from back in the field when last behind A Shin Vicugna at Sonoda last start, beaten just over seven lengths at long odds. Two back he was seventh behind Bud Rosy and beaten out of sight, with Kurino Bikkuribago clearly ahead of him in that meeting. His track-and-distance wins are noted, but current form leaves him with plenty to repair. |

SUMIRE BOUQUET
HIRONORI YAMAMOTO 6YO BAY MARE 55.0KG Masamichi Hayashi Failed to improve when well back behind Even Par at Sonoda two weeks ago, finishing a distant last after starting at long odds. There was more late work in her fourth behind A Shin Rikyu the run prior, but she was still beaten over 11 lengths and unwanted in the market. Unplaced in 15 starts at this track and distance, she needs a far sharper performance. |
