SONODA   16 Sep 2026

GOING:

Race 4 1400m

Track:

Not much early pressure but Do Anything, Sakura Vigueur and Meisho Setsugetsu can take up forward spots. DO ANYTHING (5) looks the right starting point after resuming with a solid second at Sonoda, beaten a length by Offshore Girl, and his broader record at this track and distance is clearly the strongest in the field. MEISHO SETSUGETSU (4) is the most immediate threat, having gone under by only a head to Baby Vagy before a prior third beaten two lengths, though the 23-start maiden record keeps the assessment measured. SAKURA VIGUEUR (2) was beaten as a well-supported favourite last time, but his 1400m Sonoda record and repeated placings give him another genuine winning path. CHO KANSEI (9) has been honest enough at his past two and profiles as the value place chance rather than the one to beat.

SEIJIRO IKARI
7YO  CHESTNUT  HORSE 57.0KG
Fujii Kosan Co. Ltd.
Dropped right out after leading at Sonoda last start, finishing seventh in a 3yo+ C3 and beaten over 12 lengths by Baby Vagy. The run prior was no better, second last behind Simpatia as favourite and beaten over 15 lengths. He is a track-and-trip winner and Kenta Sugiura has won on him before, but the current form must turn sharply before he can be trusted beyond minor money.

KENTA SUGIURA
MEDIUM PINK, BLACK STRIPES,WHITE SLEEVES, White cap
2 22254 SAKURA VIGUEUR
MASAHIRO KITANO
5YO  CHESTNUT  HORSE 57.0KG
Sakura Commerce Co. Ltd.
Ran fourth at Sonoda last start, beaten four and a half lengths by Mysterious Lady after starting a well-supported favourite. His previous fifth reads better than the margin, as he had plenty to do and kept working to the line. Two wins and eight places from 20 starts at this track and distance give him the right base, and the leading track jockey going on keeps him firmly in the winning mix.
2
TOMOHIRO YOSHIMURA
BLACK, RED SLEEVES, Black cap
3 64555 SHIMANO DIAMOND
HIRONORI YAMAMOTO
6YO  CHESTNUT  HORSE 53.0KG

Worked home evenly for fifth at Sonoda last start, beaten seven lengths by Kurino Achiever on good ground, after a similar fifth behind Thermopylae when beaten five and a half lengths. He carries only 53kg and has won at this track and distance, but one win from 62 attempts here at the trip underlines the task. Needs the race to fall his way to pinch a placing.
3
SHIOTSU RINA
WHITE, LIGHT PINK CROSSED SASHES, SLEEVES, WHITE ARMBAND, Red cap
4 34532 MEISHO SETSUGETSU
TSUYOSHI KOMAKI
4YO  BAY  FILLY 55.0KG
Yoshio Matsumoto
Went very close at Sonoda last start, finishing second to Baby Vagy and beaten a head in a 3yo+ C3 after being near the top of betting. That followed a third to Frevo, beaten two lengths, when she worked home well into the placings. The query is the lack of a win from 23 starts, but her latest form is as reliable as anything here and another genuine winning chance presents.
4
SAKITO YAMAMOTO
GREEN, LIGHT PINK RIGHT SASH, WHITE SLEEVES, Blue cap
5 998x2 DO ANYTHING
TAKAHIRO ARAI
6YO  CHESTNUT  HORSE 57.0KG

Resumed in much better order at Sonoda, finishing second to Offshore Girl in a 3yo+ C3 and beaten a length after being near the top of betting. The previous run was a plain eighth in 4yo+ C2 company, but he is back in a more suitable race now and his five wins and ten places from 26 starts at this track and distance are a major edge. Second-up, he sets the standard.
5
KANTA INOUE
BLACK, RED FIVE STARS, WHITE ARMBANDS, Yellow cap
6 56788 YEARS STRAIGHT
MASAYOSHI MOZAKI
8YO  DK B  MARE 55.0KG
Yukio Matsuda
Finished second last at Sonoda last start, beaten over 13 lengths by Kurino Achiever at big odds after settling rearward and weakening further late. She had been eighth behind Smart Kanathos before that, beaten nine and a half lengths when unwanted in the market. Her old track-and-trip record is noted, but the current form leaves her with plenty to find.
6
KOICHI TAKAHATA
RED, Green cap
7 90964 YUINO OTOKOYAMA
HIROYUKI TSUCHIYA
6YO  BAY  HORSE 57.0KG
Kentaro Yui
Improved slightly when fourth at Sonoda last start, beaten eight and a half lengths by Radiant Eye after picking up in the straight from long odds. The start prior was only fair, finishing sixth behind Simpatia and beaten nine lengths. Toyokazu Tano has a good record on him, but he remains winless from 17 starts at this track and distance and still has to bridge a clear gap.
7
TOYOKAZU TANO
YELLOW, CERISE RIGHT SASH, Orange cap
8 69098 LIVE MOJITO
MASAYOSHI MOZAKI
3YO  GREY  COLT 56.0KG
Takayuki Sawada
Was second last over 1230m at Sonoda last start, beaten over 15 lengths by Jericoacoara after offering little late, and he had also been second last over 1700m behind Jun Odr. He now comes back to 1400m, but the distance set-up remains a query and his overall record is just one placing from 12 starts. Needs a far stronger finish to get competitive.
8
HISASHI ITANO
BLACK, WHITE ZIGZAG CHEVRON, Orange cap
9 20754 CHO KANSEI
MICHIO TANAKA
5YO  CHESTNUT  GELDING 54.0KG
Takao Maruyama
Made some appeal on recent consistency, finishing fourth at Sonoda last start behind A Shin Wicked after starting near the top of an open market, though the margin was just under six lengths. Two back he was fifth to Stella Marina at long odds and beaten just under three lengths. The maiden record is the obvious knock, but he is racing well enough to hold place claims.
9
NAMBU FUMA
YELLOW, TWO RED ZIGZAG CHEVRON, STRIPES SLEEVES, Pink cap
10 528x6 PATROL RUN
NOBUHARU MORIMOTO
4YO  BAY  HORSE 57.0KG

Resumed with a plain sixth at Sonoda, beaten over 12 lengths by Mysterious Lady after starting near the top of betting and coming under pressure late. His previous run in 4yo+ C2 company was only fair through the line behind A Shin Karnabon. He has a solid overall record and earlier beat Do Anything this preparation, but he needs to rebound quickly to justify place support.
10
YAMAMOTOYA TAIZO
WHITE, MEDIUM PURPLE STRIPES, MEDIUM PURPLE SLEEVES, WHITE ARMBANDS, Pink cap
