Race 3 1200m Track: |

|---|---|---|---|---|
|
A distinct absence of early speed so don't expect any records to be broken. SWINDLE (4) sets the standard in a compact 3yo C4 at Mombetsu. He was favourite when fourth behind Mana Moana here two weeks ago, beaten five lengths, and the fact he worked home well keeps him high in calculations, particularly with solid track-and-distance place figures. DR AKIYOSHI (7) is the main danger after finishing third in the same race, beaten three and a half lengths, and he has the recent head-to-head edge over Swindle, though he was safely held. MISS KANOYA ROSA (1) was second there at generous odds and beat both of those rivals, but she still profiles more as a place runner after being beaten over 15 lengths the start prior. RIC STARK (5) needs to rebound from a plain ninth over 1000m, yet his previous fourth keeps him in the wider mix.

MISS KANOYA ROSA
DAISUKE AKITA 3YO BAY FILLY 55.0KG Improved into second at Mombetsu last start in 3yo+ C4, working home evenly to be beaten three lengths by Mana Moana at generous odds. That gave her the measure of Dr Akiyoshi and Swindle, which is useful, but it followed a sixth behind Eudaemonia when beaten over 15 lengths and only fair late. With two placings from four starts, she has a genuine place profile rather than a dominant winning one. |

GREAT SHOOTER
HIDEAKI SATO 4YO BAY HORSE 57.0KG Toshiaki Yanagibashi Finished fifth behind Mana Moana at Mombetsu last start, beaten ten lengths after conceding a big start and never getting into the race. The run prior had some late merit from a hopeless position, but he was still seventh behind Night Sailing and beaten a long way at big odds. Unplaced in all 22 starts, including 15 at this track and distance, he needs a sharp turnaround. |

THE FOLLOWERS
JUNJI TANAKA 3YO DK B COLT 57.0KG Makes his debut for Junji Tanaka with Genta Ochiai booked, a stable and rider profile that commands respect in this grade. The trainer's debut record reads 20 wins from 84 starters, and the trainer-sire combination is also strong from a small sample. Even so, race experience is absent and the assessment must stay measured until he shows what he can do under pressure. |

SWINDLE
DAISUKE AKITA 3YO BAY COLT 57.0KG Worked home well for fourth behind Mana Moana at Mombetsu last start, beaten five lengths after starting favourite in 3yo+ C4. He was second to Night Sailing two back, albeit beaten a long way, and his record of three placings from nine at this track and distance gives him a solid base. The maiden tag after 27 starts is the concern, but he still looks one of the main winning chances. |

RIC STARK
MORIYAMA TAKEHIRO 3YO DK B COLT 57.0KG Was plain when ninth behind Grease over 1000m at Mombetsu last start, beaten ten lengths at big odds after settling rearward and making no impression late. His fourth to Knight Spire two back was better, though still beaten six and a half lengths. The rise to 1200m is a query and he is unplaced in 13 starts at this track and distance, so a place is the realistic aim. |

EARTH SKY
TAMAKAZU OKAJIMA 14YO BAY HORSE 57.0KG Masuo Matsuyama Made some late ground for sixth behind Full Vogue at Mombetsu last week, beaten six lengths at big odds, but he was never likely to feature. The start prior was weaker again when ninth behind Eudaemonia and finished well held. His old career record includes 11 wins, yet recent form is well below that level and others bring stronger claims today. |

DR AKIYOSHI
MASAKAZU MURAKAMI 3YO DK B COLT 54.0KG Held third behind Mana Moana at Mombetsu last start, beaten three and a half lengths after being near the top of betting. That result put him ahead of Swindle on the day, reversing their previous meeting when he was beaten by that rival behind Night Sailing. He has placed at the distance and remains lightly raced, but he must finish off better to turn the placing form into a win. |
