Race 2 1200m Track: |
||||
|---|---|---|---|---|
|
Nothing to run them along so the pace looks even at best. SCANDAL GIRL (1) sets the standard after going under by only a length and a half to Kikotsu at Mombetsu last start, and her previous fourth over 1000m had merit after she worked home from midfield. She has placed twice from six starts here and looks close to breaking through, although the 1200m still has to be treated as a genuine test rather than a certainty. COSMO BALLAST (5) is the main danger if forgiven for a plain tenth behind Kikotsu, with his earlier third to Shanghai Honey and two placings from four runs at this track and distance giving him a clear rebound case. RIC BELLA (4) must improve on her eighth to Naranga, but the close second to Banshee Harpy two runs back keeps her firmly in the mix. CLAY PHANTOM (8) has not finished far enough away to dismiss and was only just over three lengths from Sobrina Forte two runs ago.

SCANDAL GIRL
Fuyuki Igarashi 2YO CHESTNUT FILLY 55.0KG Went close behind Kikotsu at Mombetsu last start, finishing second and beaten a length and a half after looming up and fighting on. She had earlier run fourth to Layup Three over 1000m here, beaten just under six lengths after working home from midfield. Placed twice from six starts at this track and drawn to get her chance, she has the right recent profile if the 1200m query is answered. |

VAN VAN VAN
JUNJI TANAKA 2YO BAY COLT 53.0KG Second-up after a plain debut at Mombetsu, where he finished eighth behind Vin Flor and was beaten over 17 lengths. He was unwanted in the market and settled too far back to make any impression, so there was little hidden merit in the run. The lighter weight is noted, but he needs to show a much sharper response before being treated as a serious factor. |

IGREC LIEN
Fuyuki Igarashi 2YO CHESTNUT FILLY 54.0KG Has been well held at both recent runs over 1000m at Mombetsu, finishing second last to Ange Merci when beaten over 16 lengths after settling rearward. The start prior was no stronger, as she finished last behind Wilfred and was beaten over 15 lengths at big odds. Up in trip with five unplaced starts behind her, she has plenty to turn around. |

RIC BELLA
MORIYAMA TAKEHIRO 2YO CHESTNUT FILLY 55.0KG Needs to rebound from an eighth to Naranga at Mombetsu, where she was beaten just over eight lengths after settling rearward and starting at long odds. The run prior gives her a genuine case, having finished second to Banshee Harpy over 1000m as a well-supported favourite and beaten only a length. With that form still recent, she is capable of sharply better. |

COSMO BALLAST
JUNJI TANAKA 2YO DK B COLT 56.0KG Disappointed behind Kikotsu at Mombetsu last start, finishing tenth and beaten over 14 lengths despite being near the top of betting, so he cannot be taken purely on trust. His previous third to Shanghai Honey was much better, beaten just under two lengths after working into the race well. Placed twice from four at this track and distance, he can bounce back if that latest run is left behind. |

PYRENEES
KUNIAKI SASAKI 2YO BAY FILLY 55.0KG Was well beaten behind Light Beans at Mombetsu last start, finishing eighth and beaten over 11 lengths after settling back and making no late impression. Two runs ago she was more competitive when fifth to Baby Nonchan, beaten four and a half lengths at big odds. That prior effort keeps her in the minor-money discussion, but she needs to find more at 1200m. |

SASURAO
MASAKAZU MURAKAMI 2YO GREY COLT 56.0KG Produced a better finish at Mombetsu last start when fifth to Naranga, beaten seven lengths after looking out of contention before working home strongly. That was an improvement on his seventh behind New Harpy two runs back, when beaten just under seven lengths at long odds. Still unplaced from five starts and likely to be ridden quietly, he shapes more as a place chance than a win hope. |

CLAY PHANTOM
HIROTO KAWASHIMA 2YO GREY COLT 56.0KG Conceded a big start behind Kikotsu at Mombetsu last time and finished sixth, beaten just over eight lengths, though he was at least fair through the line. His previous fifth to Sobrina Forte was a stronger pointer, beaten just over three lengths after leading and starting near the top of betting. Lightly raced and race fit, he can be around the placings if he holds his form together. |

SANYO INITIAL
KAZUHISA YAMADA 2YO CHESTNUT FILLY 55.0KG Has not offered enough at her past two Mombetsu runs, finishing second last behind Livermore Zan when beaten over 10 lengths after settling miles back. Her ninth to Baby Nonchan before that was similar, beaten nine lengths and unwanted in the market. Although race fit, she remains unplaced from three starts and must make a sizeable leap. |

TROUBLEMAKER
JUNJI TANAKA 2YO CHESTNUT COLT 56.0KG Improved in margin terms at Mombetsu last start, finishing seventh to Kikotsu and beaten just over eight lengths after sticking on without ever threatening. His debut behind Riko Liberator was much weaker, when favourite but never competitive and beaten out of sight. Third-up for a leading jockey and trainer combination helps the profile, but he still has to convert support into substance. |

NO MORE WAR
KUNIAKI SASAKI 2YO BAY FILLY 55.0KG Ran sixth behind Aquarium at Mombetsu last start, beaten six and a half lengths after settling rearward. She had caught the eye late when fourth to New Harpy two runs back, beaten five and a half lengths at big odds, but the broader record is a concern with ten unplaced starts and no placing from five at this track and distance. Others have stronger winning credentials. |

A SHIN SLUG
TAKAHIRO MATSUMOTO 2YO CHESTNUT COLT 56.0KG Second-up after a fair debut at Mombetsu, finishing fourth to Charter over 1000m and beaten six and a half lengths after settling rearward. He was unwanted in the market, so the effort was respectable without demanding a major upgrade. The step to 1200m is an added query and he needs to find several lengths to trouble the better exposed runners. |
