Race 6 1000m Track: |

|---|---|---|---|---|

Without an obvious leader, it may be left to Grease, Praxiteles and Haretahini to control the tempo. LUNA NUOVA (1) sets the standard on recent consistency, having placed at both Mombetsu runs this campaign and come off a second to Sakura Stream when beaten two lengths as the well-supported favourite. The drop from 1200m to 1000m is the main reservation, but the draw and rider combination are positives. GREASE (8) is the clear danger after winning here over this trip, and her track-distance record gives that form substance. FORCE TRANQUILLE (9) brings different formlines from Sapporo, though recent margins and the sharp distance change leave queries. HARETAHINI (2) has genuine place credentials through her Mombetsu 1000m record.

LUNA NUOVA
JUNJI TANAKA 3YO DK B COLT 57.0KG Normandy Thoroughbred Racing Co. Ltd. Has built a strong recent platform at Mombetsu, finishing third over 1200m when beaten a long neck by Marino Stir Heart before running second to Sakura Stream over the same trip, beaten two lengths as the well-supported favourite. The drop to 1000m is the fresh query, but she has placed in both starts here and again has Genta Ochiai aboard. With that consistency, she is the runner the others must reach. |

HARETAHINI
MASAHIRO SAITO 3YO CHESTNUT FILLY 55.0KG Was only fair when fifth here last start, beaten seven and a half lengths by El Viento Sopla at generous odds, and the run prior was a sixth to Macalas when beaten just under six lengths. That recent form does not scream winner, but she is a Mombetsu 1000m winner and has one win and two places from 14 starts at the track and distance. That keeps her in the minor-money discussion. |

BEST CALIF
KUNIAKI SASAKI 5YO CHESTNUT HORSE 57.0KG Finished second last here most recently, beaten just under nine lengths by Nishino Endeavor after being well back and never likely at long odds. Two back, he was seventh over 1200m, beaten over 13 lengths by Kitano Hudson. His record at this track and distance is also a concern, with no placing from seven attempts. Others bring stronger claims. |

BRIGHTEN SORT
MASATAKA SAKUMA 7YO BAY HORSE 57.0KG Comes off another well-beaten run, finishing tenth here when beaten over 14 lengths by Sarasa Go Sign after settling midfield and failing to pick up. He was last at Mombetsu the start prior, beaten just under nine lengths by Hopeful Song, again at big odds. With no win from 48 starts and no placing in nine runs over the past 12 months, he needs a major form reversal. |

OTHELLO
NOZOMI ONO 4YO BROWN HORSE 54.0KG Worked home only moderately from well back when fifth here last start, beaten four and a half lengths by Excellen Winner after being unwanted in the market. His previous fourth to Hopeful Song, beaten just over three lengths, reads a little better, and he gets weight relief to 54kg for this. He has placed often enough in the past year to be a sound place chance, but winning looks harder. |

PRAXITELES
HIDEAKI SATO 4YO CHESTNUT GELDING 57.0KG Kentaro Hattori Produced a spike two starts ago when winning here in 3yo+ C4 grade, beating Madonna Blue by a length and a half at long odds. The concern is that he then dropped out sharply, finishing ninth behind Sarasa Go Sign and beaten over 13 lengths after never getting into the race. His Mombetsu 1000m win gives him a case for exotics, but he must rebound quickly. |

TSUKIKAGE
KUNIO HIMORI 4YO DK B FILLY 55.0KG Was never a winning factor first-up at Mombetsu, finishing eighth behind Excellen Winner and beaten just over five lengths, although she did work home fairly from well back. Her previous run at Nagoya was much weaker, ending last in a 3yo+ C1 and beaten over 19 lengths by Playable Game. Unplaced in 17 starts across the past 12 months, she has plenty to correct. |

GREASE
KUNIO HIMORI 3YO DK B FILLY 55.0KG Comes through the right race after winning at Mombetsu over this trip, scoring from Poporon by just under a length in 3yo+ C4 grade after travelling close enough and fighting hard. She had also been third here behind Daimei Easter the run before, so the form pattern is sound. One win and three places from eight starts at the track and distance gives her a strong base despite the wider draw. |

FORCE TRANQUILLE
MORIYAMA TAKEHIRO 3YO DK B FILLY 55.0KG Carrot Farm Co. Ltd. Returns from a two-month break after finishing eighth over 1800m at Sapporo, beaten six and a half lengths by Life Is Colorful when close enough but unable to quicken. She had been seventh at the same venue over 1800m seven days earlier, beaten five and a half lengths by Ten Ready Go. The class drop helps, but coming back to 1000m creates a clear test, so place claims look the safer view. |
