Race 7 1700m Track: |

Solid tempo with The Times to lead but under plenty of pressure in a keen early contest. WATER LE SEUL (7) goes on top in a race where the market may need to look past plain finishing positions. His two Chukyo runs this campaign were over 3yo Maiden grade and he was beaten only three and a half lengths two back before an eighth over 2000m, beaten four and a half lengths. The back in trip is the query, but third-up and placed into this field he has the right profile. YAMAKAN DREAMIN' (2) also brings a class-change angle after big-odds Niigata runs, though he must improve sharply on being beaten just under nine lengths last time. JUN ODR (4) has the clearest last-start form, having won by ten lengths at Sonoda, and his track-and-distance record keeps him right in the argument. THE TIMES (3) is the dependable one, with recent placings here and a strong seasonal record, but being beaten as favourite last start tempers the win case.

SHINZEN HACHIMAN
ISHIBASHI MITSURU 5YO DK B HORSE 57.0KG Shiro Hara Was there to strike at Sonoda last start but found little, finishing fifth in a 3yo+ C2 and beaten seven and a half lengths by Wonder Guarneri. His previous sixth over 1870m here was more even than threatening, and he remains unplaced in three starts at this track and distance. The class set-up helps and F Komaki is a positive booking, but he needs a more sustained finish to turn that into more than a minor-money chance. |

YAMAKAN DREAMIN'
NOBUHARU MORIMOTO 3YO DK B COLT 56.0KG Mototsugu Yamazaki Returns from a five-week freshening after finishing 11th in a 3yo+ ALLOW at Niigata, beaten just under nine lengths by Heraldique after having the job ahead throughout. He was tenth in a 3yo Maiden there six days earlier at big odds, so the raw form is modest. The appeal is third-up fitness, the class drop and a stronger placement here, but he must show far more than those two Niigata runs. |

THE TIMES
MASAMICHI KASHIHARA 4YO CHESTNUT FILLY 55.0KG Seiichi Iketani Has maintained a reliable Sonoda profile, finishing second last start in a 3yo+ C2 when beaten two lengths by Wonder Guarneri as favourite. The run prior was another placing, third behind San Miguel after racing prominently and being safely held. A track-and-trip winner with two wins and five places from seven starts this season, she looks a dependable place runner, though the winning edge still has to be found. |

JUN ODR
HIROAKI WATASE 7YO BAY HORSE 57.0KG Junji Kawai Returns from a five-week let-up after a dominant 3yo+ C3 win at Sonoda, where he tracked into the race and cleared out to beat Meiner Thracia by ten lengths as a short odds-on favourite. He had earlier finished third over 1400m behind Texas Twister, so the latest showed a sharp lift. With two wins and one placing from four starts at this track and distance, he has the right credentials to go close again. |

NISHINO ALMIGHT
HIROYUKI YAMAGUCHI 6YO CHESTNUT HORSE 57.0KG Shigeyuki Nishiyama Worked home evenly for third over 1230m at Sonoda last start, beaten just under four lengths by Fleurir despite being among the outsiders. He had been fifth at the same trip two weeks earlier, beaten just over five lengths by Techno Express after failing to threaten. The rise to 1700m is the obvious query, but his recent form is honest enough to give him a realistic place chance if he stays. |

ENA ASCOT
NORIO TANAKA 4YO CHESTNUT HORSE 57.0KG Was well back and made no impression when fifth over 1230m at Sonoda last start, beaten just over nine lengths by Akkeshi. His previous sixth over 1400m was similar in margin, albeit he kept working without ever looking a winning hope. He has placed often at this track without winning, but the first try at 1700m asks for a clear form lift. |

WATER LE SEUL
KAZUHIRO CHONAN 3YO BAY COLT 56.0KG Masato Yamaoka Comes here third-up after an eighth over 2000m in a 3yo Maiden at Chukyo, beaten four and a half lengths by Ask Boom Kiseki after being asked to make up too much ground. Two back, he was ninth there and only beaten three and a half lengths by Rainbow State. The figures are not flashy, but the class drop and race fitness make him a serious player if he handles coming back in distance. |

SIGUE CORRIENDO
MASASHI ATARASHI 3YO GREY COLT 56.0KG Shinji Maeda Returns from a two-month break after a heavy first-up defeat at Chukyo Dirt, finishing tenth in a 3yo Maiden and beaten over 19 lengths by Air Alcina at big odds. His debut at Kyoto Dirt was also tenth, beaten over 11 lengths by Piena Black after settling rearward. The class drop is noted, but he has shown too little late in both runs to recommend with confidence. |

CHIEF IN THE SKY
KAZUHIRO CHONAN 6YO CHESTNUT HORSE 57.0KG Yoshitake Abe Led and was run down late when second over 1400m at Sonoda last start, beaten four lengths by Squid Run despite being unwanted in the market. His prior fifth behind Piko Land was sound but not sharp, and he is unplaced in four starts at this distance. He can put himself into the race early, yet the rise to 1700m leaves him needing more staying strength than he has shown. |

LA POUSSE D'OR
Seiichi Terachi 3YO CHESTNUT FILLY 55.0KG Finished fourth over 1400m at Sonoda last start, beaten just under five lengths by Never Say Goodbye after settling rearward. Her run prior had more merit, charging home for second behind Miya Griffon and missing by just under a length at generous odds. The step to 1700m is new territory, but Tomohiro Yoshimura returning gives her enough appeal for the exotics. |

T K SONA SAPO
HIROYUKI YAMAGUCHI 4YO CHESTNUT HORSE 57.0KG Was near the top of betting but folded badly at Sonoda last start, finishing seventh behind Squid Run and beaten over 19 lengths after settling just off the lead. Two back, he had fought on for second behind Shen Hu over 1400m, so the form reversal was stark. Still winless from 19 starts and now stretching to 1700m, he needs to rebound sharply before he appeals. |

MEISHO GUTS
MOTOHIRO KOMA 10YO BLACK GELDING 57.0KG Yoshio Matsumoto Improved on a poor run when fourth over 1400m at Sonoda last start, leading and working home evenly to be beaten five lengths by Ai Towa at big odds. The start prior was a long defeat behind Songwriter after he was unable to improve. His overall record is strong for an older gelding, but he is unplaced in four at this track and distance and needs another step forward. |
