COPANO JAMAICA (1) sets the standard after winning on debut at Sonoda over 820m, scoring by two and a half lengths as favourite from Ninen Tsuki Gumi. The move to 1400m is the key unknown, but he has already shown professionalism under race pressure and retains the services of Tomohiro Yoshimura. XIAOWUYING (5) has the clearest counterpunch on debut evidence, having been beaten a head by Brave Ten, though her last-start fifth behind Le Jouet was a backward step after being near the top of betting. ITOSHINO FURSA (2) gets in with 51kg and has a distance placing in the record, but her latest eighth behind Rock On D'Oro was plain. He travelled behind the leaders and was ready to pounce at the turn, suggesting the performance was no fluke. The leap to 1400m is the obvious test, but barrier 1 and Tomohiro Yoshimura staying aboard give this unbeaten colt the right credentials to hold top billing. |
