EMMA DIAMOND (3) sets the standard in a race where the leading chances bring quite different profiles. She was beaten just under a length by Craft King here last start as a short odds-on favourite, but the previous 3yo+ C3 win over Kaseno Force and her two wins and three places from five starts at the Mombetsu 1200m keep her firmly on top. DUNK BAROWS (2) is the main threat after fighting hard when third, beaten just under a length, and his record with Takafumi Hattori adds substance. TAISEI SCHALT (4) has the track-and-distance record to rebound, though his last two runs leave him with more to prove than the top pair. SEI GEN (6) was close enough last start to be a genuine minor-money player third-up.

The return to 1200m is the key positive and he beat Dunk Barows and Taisei Schalt about a month ago, so a place rebound is possible. |
