Race 5 1000m Track: |
||||
|---|---|---|---|---|
|
Solid tempo anticipated with Yamatono Kaze heading them off. KNIGHT SPIRE (3) brings the clearest recent profile, having won here over 1000m two starts back before finishing second to El Viento Sopla at Mombetsu, beaten five lengths, while still holding an edge over Yamatono Kaze from that latest meeting. YAMATONO KAZE (1) is the main danger, a track-and-trip winner who was third in the same race and had won his start prior, so the form is honest enough to turn this into a genuine contest. DESERT EAGLE (9) is harder to line up after one poor debut run, but the fact he was a well-supported favourite then keeps him in calculations fresh. CHOGOLISA (4) has not been far away and her latest closing fifth gives her a solid place-and-upside profile.

YAMATONO KAZE
NOZOMI ONO 3YO CHESTNUT GELDING 57.0KG Won a 3yo+ C4 over this track and trip two starts ago, beating Ripe Traum by half a length as favourite after travelling just behind the speed and letting down neatly. He then finished third to El Viento Sopla here, beaten six lengths, when near the top of an open market and working home evenly. Barrier one and a forward racing style give him options, though Knight Spire held him last time. |

MO MO BLUE
HIDEAKI SATO 4YO DK B HORSE 56.0KG Safely held at Mombetsu last start when seventh to El Viento Sopla, beaten over 12 lengths at big odds after being well back and making no impression. His previous eighth behind Macalas was more even than threatening, so the recent form asks for improvement. The counter is a useful track-and-trip record, with two wins and nine places from 27 starts, keeping him in the minor-money mix. |

KNIGHT SPIRE
YOSHIMI YANAGIZAWA 3YO BAY COLT 57.0KG Comes through the right form line after finishing second to El Viento Sopla here last start, beaten five lengths, having travelled well before running into the placings. He had scored over this track and trip the run prior, beating Belle Tomo by two and a half lengths, and has one win and two places from four attempts at the Mombetsu 1000m. With Shoma Kanayama again aboard, he sets the local standard. |

CHOGOLISA
HIROYUKI OGUNI 3YO CHESTNUT FILLY 55.0KG Closed off sharply for fifth behind Sarasa Go Sign at Mombetsu last start, beaten four lengths, after settling rearward and still having plenty to do on the turn. Her sixth behind Raven Knight two back had a similar shape, so she is racing like one who needs the race to unfold kindly. A previous win at this track and distance supports her case, but she profiles more as a solid place chance than a standout winner. |

HIDEKI KAKUGAWA 3YO BAY FILLY 55.0KG Keisuke Ide Worked home fairly without ever looking likely when sixth to Mr Tonton in a 3yo Maiden over 1200m at Niigata Dirt, beaten eight and a half lengths at big odds. That was an improvement on her 12th at Fukushima Dirt, but she remains unplaced from three starts. The class drop and third-up fitness help, yet the return to 1000m leaves her needing a sharper early response. |

SAKURA RAPIER
MASAKAZU MURAKAMI 7YO BROWN MARE 52.0KG Sakura Commerce Co. Ltd. Has the right old form at Mombetsu, with three wins and six places from 46 starts at this track and distance, but the latest evidence is modest. She was ninth to Excellen Winner last start, beaten five and a half lengths at long odds, after never getting into the race. That followed a second-last finish behind Raven Knight, so even with 52kg she must find a far stronger finish. |

MAINIO SARASTUS
TOMOKI KUROKAWA 3YO DK B FILLY 55.0KG Yuki Dendo Second-up here after finishing second last behind Excellen Winner at Mombetsu, beaten nine and a half lengths, when settling back and failing to make ground. Her previous 12th at Tokyo over 2000m was also well held and she was big odds there. Unplaced in all five starts and with no recent closing strength, she needs a major lift to trouble the better-credentialed runners. |

SMILING SKY
KAZUHISA YAMADA 3YO BAY FILLY 55.0KG Takayuki Shimokobe Finished last in both recent Mombetsu runs over 1200m, most recently behind Sakura Stream when beaten over 11 lengths at long odds. The start prior she was poised to improve but offered little and was beaten seven and a half lengths by Marino Stir Heart. Dropping to 1000m is a new test rather than a proven positive, and she has plenty to turn around from six unplaced starts. |

DESERT EAGLE
HIROAKI SAKURAI 3YO CHESTNUT COLT 57.0KG Kota Kanematsu Returns from a lengthy spell after a disappointing debut at Nakayama Dirt, where he was 11th to Air Salome in a 3yo NEWC over 1200m, beaten over 17 lengths as a well-supported favourite. That market respect suggests he had shown something before race day, but the run itself gave little encouragement. Fresh and back in trip, he is a place prospect only if that debut proves well below his true level. |
