Race 4 1700m Track: |

|---|---|---|---|---|
|
Moderate tempo expected with Meisho Yamafuji likely to find the front over Dark Desire and Active Tailor. MEISHO YAMAFUJI (7) sets the standard in a race where recent Mombetsu form ties several key chances together. She has placed in both starts, was near the top of betting when third to Sarang last time and now gets to her third run in the campaign for the leading stable and rider. SHAA (3) is the main threat if he can recapture his run two back, when third to Best Luire, but his latest eighth behind Sarang was plain and the winless 18-start record remains the obvious query. ACTIVE TAILOR (6) has to rebound from a heavy last-start defeat, yet the class drop and returning rider keep her in calculations for a sharper run. BUBBLY DASH (5) brings the best immediate result after finishing second to Sarang at long odds and has prior Mombetsu 1700m wins, so he is a genuine danger.

SCHON ARIES
KUNIO HIMORI 5YO DK B MARE 54.0KG Worked home with some purpose when fifth to Sarang at Mombetsu last start, beaten six and a half lengths after being unwanted in the market. Her previous fifth behind Knight Spire was also sound without threatening, beaten seven and a half lengths over 1000m. A prior Mombetsu win gives her some grounding here, but recent matchups leave her needing a more decisive finish to trouble the main hopes. |

DARK DESIRE
Fuyuki Igarashi 3YO BAY GELDING 57.0KG Improved to fourth behind Sarang at Mombetsu last start, but he was still beaten five and a half lengths at big odds and failed to finish it off. That was a step up from being beaten a long way behind Night Sailing two runs back, when always too far from the contest. Still unplaced from five starts overall, so he must turn that latest effort into a much stronger closing performance. |

SHAA
MORIYAMA TAKEHIRO 3YO BAY COLT 57.0KG Had a plain result when eighth to Sarang at Mombetsu last start, beaten over 12 lengths after coming under pressure late. The better guide is his previous third behind Best Luire, where he worked home evenly and was beaten two and a half lengths at big odds. He has placed at this distance, but 18 starts without a win means he needs to convert the better part of his form this time. |

EARTH WOLF
TAMAKAZU OKAJIMA 9YO BAY GELDING 57.0KG Masuo Matsuyama Backs up after finishing ninth to Full Vogue at Mombetsu last week, beaten just under nine lengths after conceding a huge start and never getting into the race. His prior sixth behind Sarang was similar in shape, with too much ground to make up despite working home fairly. A Mombetsu 1700m win is a positive, but the veteran needs a much sharper beginning and stronger finish. |

BUBBLY DASH
HIDEKI KAKUGAWA 9YO DK B HORSE 57.0KG Went close at Mombetsu last start when second to Sarang, beaten a length and a half at long odds after working home evenly. That followed a fifth behind Best Luire, beaten three lengths, so his recent form is more reliable than most in this field. He has two wins at this track and distance and a long association with Ryu Abe, making him a sound place prospect with winning claims if he repeats the latest run. |

ACTIVE TAILOR
TAMAKAZU OKAJIMA 7YO BAY MARE 55.0KG Needs to recover from a disappointing second last behind Sarang at Mombetsu, where she was beaten over 15 lengths and came under pressure late. Her previous seventh behind Best Luire was also below the mark after she was poised to strike but offered little. The class drop and returning rider help, yet with only one placing from eleven Mombetsu 1700m attempts she looks more a place chance than a win anchor. |

MEISHO YAMAFUJI
JUNJI TANAKA 3YO BAY FILLY 55.0KG Placed again when third to Sarang at Mombetsu last start, beaten four lengths after being near the top of betting and working home evenly. She was also third on debut behind Night Sailing, so the early profile is consistent even if she remains a maiden. Third-up for Junji Tanaka with Genta Ochiai aboard, she has the right base to take another step and is the most dependable winning option. |

FUJINO ALPHA
NOBORU YONEKAWA 3YO BAY COLT 54.0KG Dropped out to seventh behind Sarang at Mombetsu last start, beaten over 10 lengths as an outside chance in the betting with no clear excuse. His run prior was better, finishing sixth to Riko Jupiter and beaten two and a half lengths after picking up nicely late. Even so, one placing from 20 starts at Mombetsu keeps the winning case thin unless he finds sharp improvement. |
