Strong tempo with Baleares driving forward, while West Leader and N K Saibo pressure. WEST LEADER (5) sets the standard in this C1 over 1600m at Ohi. He has won both runs this campaign in 3yo+ C2 company over 1400m, the latest by just over a length as favourite, and his five wins from nine attempts at this track and distance give the profile real substance. ENRICH THE HEART (12) is the main threat after consecutive seconds in 3yo COND grade, beaten a neck then half a length, though he has placed rather than won in three starts at this track and trip. HARU ICHIBAN (7) has strong local form, including a two-and-a-half-length win two back, but he was beaten by Enrich The Heart a couple of weeks ago. KNIGHT WARRIOR (8) is honest enough off two close finishes, yet last start as favourite left a query.

She finished tenth here last start, beaten over 14 lengths by Agile Black at big odds after being in touch and fading quickly. The run prior was last behind Vermeer, beaten over 17 lengths. A light weight helps, but she must turn her form around sharply. |

His previous start was also well below what is needed, seventh in a 3yo COND at Ohi and again beaten over 12 lengths by Not Border. He has a win at this track and distance, but recent evidence says he needs marked improvement. |

That followed a ninth behind Vermeer when beaten over 14 lengths and unwanted in betting. With no placing from 13 starts this season, even the track-and-trip background is not enough to make a solid case. |

SATOSHI FUKUNAGA 5YO DK B GELDING 56.0KG Yoshio Oda Returns from a one-month freshening in excellent shape after winning both runs this campaign at Ohi over 1400m. He scored by just over a length from Kitetsu in a 3yo+ C2 last start as favourite, having earlier edged out Riko Falcon in the same grade. The rise to 1600m is supported by five wins from nine at this track and distance, and his record with Ryo Novata is a major asset. Clear winning credentials. |

That was a fairer effort than her 13th over 1200m here in June, where she was unwanted in the market and never threatened. The 51kg helps and her Ohi record is sound, but she is unplaced in three starts at the distance. She profiles as a place hope rather than a clear win play. |

He has two wins from three at Ohi and has already won at the trip, though Enrich The Heart had his measure a couple of weeks ago. He remains a serious chance. |

Two wins and two places from twelve starts at this track and distance keep him in the mix for minor money. |

Returns from a six-month break after ending last campaign with a fifth at Ohi, beaten seven and a half lengths by Univers as an odds-on favourite. That was disappointing, but the start prior was a 3yo+ C2 win here, beating Sky Is Yours by half a length, also as odds-on favourite. His broader record is strong with six wins from twelve starts, so he can run well fresh if ready enough. |

He had also been beaten a neck by Bernard Handsome the run prior, so the consistency is clear. His 80 per cent place rate overall is backed by three placings from three at this track and distance, and he beat Haru Ichiban recently. The wide barrier is the main obstacle to overcome. |
