Race 6 1600m Track: SOFT |

|---|---|---|---|---|
|
Strong tempo with Baleares driving forward, while West Leader and N K Saibo pressure. WEST LEADER (5) sets the standard in this C1 over 1600m at Ohi. He has won both runs this campaign in 3yo+ C2 company over 1400m, the latest by just over a length as favourite, and his five wins from nine attempts at this track and distance give the profile real substance. ENRICH THE HEART (12) is the main threat after consecutive seconds in 3yo COND grade, beaten a neck then half a length, though he has placed rather than won in three starts at this track and trip. HARU ICHIBAN (7) has strong local form, including a two-and-a-half-length win two back, but he was beaten by Enrich The Heart a couple of weeks ago. KNIGHT WARRIOR (8) is honest enough off two close finishes, yet last start as favourite left a query.

YUYU STARRY
KENJI TSUKIOKA 8YO BAY MARE 51.0KG Has a genuine Ohi mile record, including six wins and six places from 35 starts at this track and distance, but the current form is hard to recommend. She finished tenth here last start, beaten over 14 lengths by Agile Black at big odds after being in touch and fading quickly. The run prior was last behind Vermeer, beaten over 17 lengths. A light weight helps, but she must turn her form around sharply. |

HIGH UPGRADE
HIROYUKI MATSUURA 4YO CHESTNUT HORSE 56.0KG Shinpei Hattori Finished seventh at Ohi last start, beaten just over eight lengths by Agile Black, and the market gave little confidence with him unwanted in betting. His previous seventh behind Musashi Tarumae read much the same, handy enough before failing to finish off. Still winless after 29 starts and unplaced in five attempts at this track and distance, so others make far stronger appeal. |

N K SAIBO
YUTA EBINA 3YO CHESTNUT COLT 55.0KG Second-up after an eighth at Ohi where he was beaten over 12 lengths by Agile Black and gave very little in the run home. His previous start was also well below what is needed, seventh in a 3yo COND at Ohi and again beaten over 12 lengths by Not Border. He has a win at this track and distance, but recent evidence says he needs marked improvement. |

CURREN MAURER
HITOSHI HORIE 5YO BAY HORSE 56.0KG Takashi Suzuki Finished a distant last at Ohi last start behind Agile Black after being miles back and failing to improve, and the market expected little at long odds. That followed a ninth behind Vermeer when beaten over 14 lengths and unwanted in betting. With no placing from 13 starts this season, even the track-and-trip background is not enough to make a solid case. |

WEST LEADER
SATOSHI FUKUNAGA 5YO DK B GELDING 56.0KG Yoshio Oda Returns from a one-month freshening in excellent shape after winning both runs this campaign at Ohi over 1400m. He scored by just over a length from Kitetsu in a 3yo+ C2 last start as favourite, having earlier edged out Riko Falcon in the same grade. The rise to 1600m is supported by five wins from nine at this track and distance, and his record with Ryo Novata is a major asset. Clear winning credentials. |

ALMA VENUS
KEIJI NAKAMICHI 4YO BAY FILLY 51.0KG Koutomic Racing Improved first-up when fourth at Ohi, beaten five and a half lengths by Agile Black after leading at long odds. That was a fairer effort than her 13th over 1200m here in June, where she was unwanted in the market and never threatened. The 51kg helps and her Ohi record is sound, but she is unplaced in three starts at the distance. She profiles as a place hope rather than a clear win play. |

HARU ICHIBAN
NOBUHIRO ONODERA 3YO DK B COLT 55.0KG Godolphin Held his form respectably when fourth in a 3yo COND at Ohi last start, beaten two lengths by Mieno Wild after leading and working home evenly. Two back he won a 3yo COND here by two and a half lengths from Talisman Chant as favourite, so the winning form is recent. He has two wins from three at Ohi and has already won at the trip, though Enrich The Heart had his measure a couple of weeks ago. He remains a serious chance. |

KNIGHT WARRIOR
MASATO TANAKA 4YO BAY GELDING 56.0KG Was backed as favourite at Ohi last start and finished fifth, beaten just under two lengths by Gonzago after being right there but unable to go on. His previous third behind Vermeer, beaten a length and a half, was similar honest form without quite sealing the race. Two wins and two places from twelve starts at this track and distance keep him in the mix for minor money. |

BALEARES
KAZUMASA SAKAMOTO 4YO BAY HORSE 56.0KG G1 Racing Co. Ltd. Returns from a six-month break after ending last campaign with a fifth at Ohi, beaten seven and a half lengths by Univers as an odds-on favourite. That was disappointing, but the start prior was a 3yo+ C2 win here, beating Sky Is Yours by half a length, also as odds-on favourite. His broader record is strong with six wins from twelve starts, so he can run well fresh if ready enough. |

BINNADA
KEIJI NAKAMICHI 5YO BAY GELDING 56.0KG Closed off well when fourth over 1400m at Ohi last start, beaten a length and a half by Vulture Star despite being unwanted in the market. The run prior was a sound fourth in a 3yo+ C2 over 2400m behind Bean Smoke Mocha, where he kept coming from a long way back. With Genki Fujimoto having placed on him regularly, he has enough recent form to press for a cheque. |

AQUA JET
TAKEMI MUNAKATA 4YO DK B HORSE 56.0KG Blue Stars Farm Co. Ltd. Finished sixth at Ohi last start, beaten just over seven lengths by Agile Black after travelling close enough but failing to threaten. His previous tenth behind Vermeer was weaker again, beaten over 14 lengths despite being near the top of an open market. He is third-up and has won races, but current form leaves him needing a much stronger finishing effort. |
11 WADA JOJI |

| 12 | 82x22 |
ENRICH THE HEART
NAOYUKI MATOBA 3YO GREY COLT 55.0KG Went close again when second in a 3yo COND at Ohi last start, beaten half a length by Mieno Wild after being pipped late as an odds-on favourite. He had also been beaten a neck by Bernard Handsome the run prior, so the consistency is clear. His 80 per cent place rate overall is backed by three placings from three at this track and distance, and he beat Haru Ichiban recently. The wide barrier is the main obstacle to overcome. |
