Expecting Tambo's Justice and Acclimatise to press forward and set the tempo. A good contest. SMART LEGEND (12) won the Winter Cup here in style three weeks ago over this distance. That stacks right up, and he maps to get the run of the race. Sits down in the weights and he rates to go back-to-back. SIR GRACE (10) brings a 1L defeat from the Mackay Cup, and that also reads well. The inside barrier should advantage and he can make his first start at Townsville a winning one. KIPLING'S JOURNEY (8) raced favourite in that contest and folded up from the speed. He brought improving form to that and he ran his best race over this distance in decent metro company. The well-bred gelding deserves another chance. QUOTHQUAN (9) comes out of the same race and was disappointing. He was beaten 1L prior in the Rockhampton Cup over a mile, and it was a big effort after settling last in the 16-horse field. A player if things go his way. ROGUE BEAR (5) has switched to the Button yard on a 28-day return. Some trust is required but his best would have him right in it. SUGGESTED PLAY: Smart Legend appeals most.
