In a race devoid of pace Midnight Boom will be prominent. HAYAKU (1) drops in grade after finishing midfield at Eagle Farm last start, where he was only beaten a tick over 2L. Shoulders a strong record over this course and distance and should prove hard to hold out in this company. ENDANGERED SPECIES (9) exceeded expectations when closing strongly into third at Casino over 1300m. That run suggested he’s nearing a win and looks a genuine contender. BRAVE INSTINCTION (5) was sound when resuming at Casino. He has an excellent second-up record and is expected to improve sharply with fitness on his side. SET TO PROPHET (3) comes off a third over the mile at Scone and the step back in trip may suit. Has the ability to be competitive and is not without claims in an open affair. MIDNIGHT BOOM (11) missed narrowly last start at Casino at long odds. Strips fitter third-up and warrants more respect this time. SUGGESTED PLAY: Hayaku to win.
