KAKUHEN (7) sets the standard despite resuming, with last preparation reading well for this grade: a four-length 3yo C1 win at Sonoda before finishing third, beaten just under a length, as short odds-on favourite in 3yo COND company. A P POETESS (3) has the strongest recent race fitness profile, having run second and third at Sonoda this campaign, though the rise to 1700m remains the point she must answer. G T PEARL (6) has been starting at big odds but her latest fourth to Yazan was sound enough to keep her in the winning discussion if she improves over the extra ground. GOLDEN LONDON (1) looks the next most reliable place-to-win candidate after a better fourth to Marble Tiswa, but his prior defeat was plain and his record at this track and distance says he is more dependable for the minor money than as a dominant winning play.

Still a maiden after 29 starts, and even with a class drop he needs a far sharper finish to trouble these. |

Two back she was pipped late by Re Go To as favourite, so the form has substance even if she has had chances. Her Sonoda record is strong and she has already beaten G T Pearl recently; the 1700m rise is the main hurdle to turning consistency into a win. |

Two wins and two placings from six starts at the track, plus proven 1700m form, make him the runner they have to beat if forward enough. |
