HACHIKIN (6) sets the standard after a decisive three-length win over 1000m at Mombetsu, where she was the short odds-on favourite and beat Chrome Boy with something in hand. The extra 200m is the main question, but her current form is clearly the strongest in this field. SUCRERIE (3) is the danger on placement, returning from 3yo Maiden form at Chukyo Dirt and having been fourth at Sonoda two runs back, though she still has no placing from five starts. GRATIAE (9) brings the best course-and-distance profile among the main chances, with one win and one place from seven attempts here, and her latest seventh was only just over four lengths from Boules De Neige. LEVANTARSE (10) improved sharply into second at big odds last start, beaten two and a half lengths by Eudaemonia, but needs to prove that was no one-off after a plain run the start prior.

That came after a much heavier defeat at Sapporo Dirt, where she was unwanted in the market and never competitive. The stronger pointer is her fourth at Sonoda two runs back, when beaten just over five lengths after having every chance. She is still unplaced from five starts, but this looks a more suitable level to show something. |
