Pace only fair with Meisho Rise rolling to the lead ahead of Happy Monster and Smart Izanami. MEISHO RISE (2) deserves top billing despite the plain end to his last campaign, as his previous Sonoda win in 4yo+ C2 grade was decisive and he brings the strongest track-and-distance profile among the main hopes. The odds-on failure before the spell is the obvious query, but his best form reads well for this. AMERICAN TARO (10) is the harder runner to price confidently: his last-start defeat was severe, yet he was well respected in betting through that preparation and now resumes into a softer-looking assignment. O SHIN ANGEL (5) brings the steadiest recent C3 form, with a fifth and fourth at Sonoda, and his established 1400m record keeps him right in the argument. PPALLIPPALLI (7) has not fired at her past two, but she did work home fairly last start and her track-and-distance record gives her an each-way platform if the stronger pair leave the door open.

The stronger guide is his previous win here, scoring by three lengths from Meisho Kotodama after quickening cleanly. Proven at the track and distance and reunited with a rider who knows him well, he can make amends if ready fresh. |

The appeal is his established Sonoda 1400m record, with six wins and 15 places from 38 starts, so this looks more a minor-money profile than a clear winning case. |
