Genuine tempo with Proud Hosho leading the way. MISAO (12) has the cleanest profile among the main hopes, having placed in both starts at Mombetsu and coming off a third as favourite when beaten four lengths by Tradescantia. She has still to turn consistency into a win, but her exposed form reads well for this. BEST MESSAGE (8) is close behind on the strength of a third to Feline Valor two runs back and a fourth to Jackson Voice last time, and his two placings from six starts here give him a solid base. PROUD HOSHO (1) improved sharply second-up when fifth, beaten four lengths by Promessa Reza, and is open to further progress after a poor debut. YOUNG GENERAL (2) has had more chances, but successive fourth and fifth placings keep him in the minor-money mix if he can find a little more at 1000m.

That was a clear step up from his debut seventh over 1200m here, where he was beaten a long way by Bellagio Evans. He should be forward enough third-up and looks a genuine chance if that latest run is the right guide. |

Best Message has already had her measure recently, and she needs a sharp reversal to trouble these. |
