Despite the small field Muscle Chummy, Blast Black and Will Mischievous can set a decent tempo. WILL MISCHIEVOUS (5) gets the nod in a race where the main chances are quite well exposed. He has filled second at his past two Mombetsu runs, including when beaten three lengths by Blue Cosmos as an odds-on favourite, and his two wins and three placings from six starts at this track and distance give him the strongest suitability profile. MUSCLE CHUMMY (6) is the obvious danger after winning by five lengths from Summer Bride as an odds-on favourite, with her narrow second to Mana Sky beforehand confirming the form is no one-off. BLAST BLACK (7) has been beaten two lengths into second at his past two and owns a perfect top-three record from five starts, although he still has to convert that consistency. M P FLIP (1) closed strongly into third at big odds last start and has minor-money claims if that effort is repeated.
