LIONTARINA (7) is the benchmark after successive Mombetsu wins, the latest a neck success in 3yo+ A2 company as favourite, and her record of five wins and one placing from six starts at this track and distance gives her the strongest profile. GYRO (5) is the main danger on specialist credentials, with eight wins and three placings from 16 runs over this course and distance, and his latest fifth behind Liontarina was better than the bare placing after he closed off strongly to be beaten just over two lengths. WONDER WOMAN (8) brings the most consistent recent pattern, beaten just under a length by Der Flug last time after another close fourth behind Keiai Dorie, and she has six wins at Mombetsu. DER FLUG (3) deserves respect as the last-start winner over Kappagi, though the drop back from 1200m to 1000m leaves him needing to reproduce that sharp finish.
