Son Of The Sun should have enough pace to lead a low-pressure contest. MEISHO JINSO (8) is the top selection largely on set-up rather than exposed recent finishing figures, with the class drop and fourth-up profile giving him scope to improve on two Chukyo Dirt runs where he was well back and beaten over 12 lengths. VICTORY EYE (2) brings the strongest Sonoda evidence, including three wins and three places from 17 starts at this track and distance, and his fourth here last start reads well enough for this. SON OF THE SUN (7) has a clear winning case if he reproduces his Sapporo Dirt second to Curvidens, though the latest 11th behind Bel Azzurro is the obvious concern. HIGHLANDER (3) also drops from 3yo Maiden company and gets Tomohiro Yoshimura, but after two heavy defeats at Sapporo Dirt he shapes more as a place hope than a horse to take short odds about.

With three wins and three places from 17 at this track and distance, plus a good season record, he has the right credentials to be prominent again. |

The class drop and Tomohiro Yoshimura booking help, but from a rearward pattern he must produce a sharper finish to land a placing. |

The more encouraging reference is his Sonoda second to Sunrise Oscar two runs back over 1870m, when he was beaten five lengths after starting near the top of an open market. Back in trip is a query, but that local placing keeps him in the minor-money mix. |
