Expecting Opal Tesoro to take up the lead at a genuine tempo. KITANO KOSEI (7) sets the standard after a decisive seven-length Kasamatsu win as a well-supported favourite, and his record of one win and two places from three starts at this track and distance gives that form a solid base. HIRUNO GENOVA (4) is the main danger after improving sharply here last start, finishing second to Maple Lovely after starting prohibitive odds-on; the concern is that she was beaten as favourite, but this still reads as one of the stronger recent efforts. BELLAGIO NO YUME (3) also arrives off a Kasamatsu win, beating Orlune by a length, and her track-and-trip record keeps her right in the argument for the placings. OPAL TESORO (6) resumes after a three-month break and has placed four times from six attempts at this course and distance, so she has the right profile to be competitive if ready to produce fresh.

She has placed only once from 23 attempts at this track and distance, so even with a class drop she needs a clear lift. |

She does get weight relief and has won at 1400m, but from a rearward pattern she needs a major form turnaround. |

That was a sharp contrast to her previous sixth behind Kokorono Hikoboshi, when beaten over 14 lengths and unwanted in the market. Her record of one win and five places from 13 starts at this track and distance gives her a sound each-way base. |
