Anticipate a moderate tempo is a race devoid of recognised speedsters. Some key scratchings change the complexion of this race. NO RAGRETS (4) improved sharply last start off a seven-week let-up, beaten a couple of lengths over 1115m here after beginning awkwardly. Fitter for two runs back from a spell and capable of playing a big role with the aid of an inside gate. HE'S POPLAR (2) did a fair job first-up here in a shorter race last time out when fresh from a 160-day spell. Handles the going and is a likely improver with that run under his belt. JED (3) has had a stack of chances but meets a pretty average field here. Even effort to finish fourth over 1400m at Casino last start. Worth one more chance with the blinkers back on today. ROCK THE MACHINE (6) is back from a 130-day lay-off. Yet to fill a placing in eight starts but a couple of efforts last time in work suggested he will be competitive here. SIVO (7) can improve second-up with the blinkers reapplied. SUGGESTED PLAY: No Ragrets each-way.
