A solid tempo on the cards with Dubai Poet leading the way. The feature of the day and a decent line-up of locals and visitors chasing some black-type. Ciaron Maher's RUNNING BY (9) is a three-time Stakes placegetter and looks to get her chance to break through for a win here. She was narrowly denied down the straight at Flemington last start and the step to 1400m looks ideal. The wide draw is some concern but she is good enough to roll forward and overcome it. LINGANI (11) is flying this campaign and deserves strong consideration again. The 1400m is some concern as she's never won beyond 1050m. Any rain on the day will help her chances. How can you not respect Grahame Begg when he travels a horse to SA? His runner SPLASH BACK (13) has each-way claims. She wasn't far away in a G3 over 1200m last start and her 1400m record is impeccable. GREAT MAXIMUS (5) and CAFE MILLENIUM (1) are both worth some thought.
