Off the low draw Uhtred is likely to find the lead at a slick tempo. LORD GOLIATH (4) ran on too late at Arawa Park 10 days ago over 2200m, and the extra furlong here will suit him. He can settle handy to the pace from the perfect inside gate, and he should be able to bounce back into form here, or even win. POINTER (7) was not far away in a tougher field here a fortnight ago, and she was a game runner-up at this level before that at Te Aroha. She won't lack fitness and is capable of figuring in the top 3 here. DOUBLE TAKE (1) franked his unlucky effort for fourth at Cambridge in his penultimate start with a comfortable win at Ruakaka 3 weeks ago. He tries 2400m for the first time, but now that he is back in form, he will be very competitive again, especially in an even contest. SLICK CHICK (15) has had excuses in 2 starts since clearing her maiden status at Tauranga in July. She cops a wide gate, but with plenty of time to find her feet, she should secure the right run early on. Each way. PLAYINASANDPIT (16) is still a maiden, but can take this out. SUGGESTED PLAY: Slick Chick at some juicy each-way value.
