Expecting a genuine tempo. KARATE KID (1) ran a good race when third over this distance on the Standside course last time. He has won three times and finished third twice from six starts over this trip. The son of Erupt will strip much fitter and if confirming his recent improvement, he should be the one to beat. COSMIC STAR (2) finished out of the money two starts back then finished fifth in a 1000m contest at Turffontein Standside four weeks ago. Best figures measure up and is sure to run well. THE ABDICATOR (6) returns from a spell which may have done him the world of good. All four of his career victories have come over this distance. On best form shown, he would not be a shock winner. SILVER TUDOR (5) ran a good race when second over 1200m on the Greyville polytrack last time. He has won once, finished second twice and third once from six starts on this course. The 6yo gelding cannot be discounted with Serino Moodley back in the saddle.
