Good tempo expected with Thurmond, Rhett and Prince Pinot rolling forward. Tricky. MANDINO (1) has crossed the border and is suited in this line-up. He was back in form at Balaklava stepping up to 2200m and he's placed 2/3 over this staying trip, including here on good going. Yendall is a key jockey engagement, and he will finish hard. THURMOND (2) led them up and belted the Hamilton Maidens on the heavy by 4.3L over 2020m. His good surface figures read just as well. He will be further improved, and with Linda sticking he can take the next step. PRINCE PINOT (5) has been threatening before a very plain effort as favourite at Warracknabeal (vet cleared). He will enjoy the better track and is worth another chance. MR TADASHI (4) is in a top metro stable and may go better over the longer journey. The in-form Coffey rides. CHRISTMAS (8) will run out the trip and showed more like his best last time. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Mandino each away.
