Plenty of first starters engaged which makes it tricky to map, but we can assume a solid tempo. SCARLET MONARCH (11) is speedy and should be suited by the short trip first-up. Won a trial on a heavy track earlier in the week and from the draw will be prominent for a long way. Good chance in a race up for grabs. YES MA (6) is another drawn out and she started favourite at Newcastle when a battling fifth in a 900m dash on a heavy track. Kept fresh and could lift back to country grade. ELDERBERRY WINE (5) wasn't disgraced at only start and is worth including while NOTERBEL (8) is a possible improver on ordinary effort when resuming. SINGLE SHY (4) is on debut and any betting moves would be a pointer. SUGGESTED PLAY: Scarlet Monarch to win.
