Solid tempo with Heartford House leading from Rakiura and Wise Words. AND THEN WHAT (3) won his debut here last spring and then had 3 starts earlier in the year for a second at Geraldton before hurting himself in his final start of that prep. His recent freshen up would have done him no harm, and with the aid of a 3kg claim, he will be hard to hold out. WISE WORDS (1) is a handy locally trained mare resuming from a spell. She comes to hand quickly, and even though this trip is short of her best, she can still figure in the top 3. RAKIURA (7) led up and fought hard when finishing third at Dongara 4 weeks ago. She will be suited by the drop back to 1000m, and if she can find the front here, then she will take some pegging back. HEARTFORD HOUSE (6) set the pace at Geraldton last start and only stopped inside the final furlong. He has a good draw and may try and lead this field as well. Stick with him. HOT NOVA (8) is resuming from a spell and has yet to fire over this trip. Use the market as your best guide. SUGGESTED PLAY: And Then What each-way.
