Race 9 1400m

Track: SOFT     True

Key Fine should find the front with Nitto Sunny and Natsu Hayate on her heels. IMMACULATE (12) has the most reliable recent profile, placing at his past two over 1200m at Funabashi and now arrives race fit, though the rise to 1400m and the wide barrier are the obvious tests. KEY FINE (5) brings the strongest established record, with two wins and eleven placings from 18 starts at the Kawasaki 1400m, and she should be prominent from the outset. LE JOUEUR (1) has not fired at his past two but draws to save ground and gets class relief, so he remains a genuine threat if he finishes off better. HIGH WILLHAYS (2) can use an inside draw and has a recent close fourth here, while MEISHO BONGOCHI (10) is the knockout place hope if he reproduces his narrow Funabashi second.

JUNICHI MURATA
4YO  BAY  HORSE 56.0KG
Normandy Thoroughbred Racing Co. Ltd.
Draws barrier one after settling rearward and finishing seventh at Kawasaki last start, beaten six and a half lengths behind Narino Dream at big odds. His previous sixth here was better, beaten three and a half lengths when near the top of betting, but he was still safely held and later lost to High Willhays in that form line. The class drop and 12-month profile keep him in the race, provided he settles close enough to use the inside draw.

Tracked a more encouraging line two starts back when fourth at Kawasaki, beaten just under a length by Siena Titicaca after racing near the speed. She then settled rearward and was only sixth here behind Gomez, beaten seven and a half lengths at generous odds. The maiden record remains the clear reservation, but from barrier two she can land closer and her recent Kawasaki form is strong enough for this.

Returns from a five-week let-up after leading at Urawa and finishing third behind Jazz Pianist, beaten two lengths despite being unwanted in the market. That was a clear lift on her prior eighth, when she was swamped after holding a narrow lead and beaten just over eight lengths. She is yet to race at Kawasaki and the distance remains a query, but her latest effort gives her a genuine minor-money profile.

Returns from a lengthy spell after finishing last in 3yo+ C2 grade at Kawasaki, beaten over 20 lengths behind Zendan Tomoni when never in the picture. The run prior was also plain, finishing second last and beaten over 10 lengths by Gaura Thunder after offering little from a suitable position. A lower grade helps, but the maiden record and recent margins demand a major turnaround.

Has the race shape to suit after a solid second at Kawasaki, beaten four lengths by My Bridge when near the top of betting and working home evenly. Her prior third was as odds-on favourite but the margin was a concern after she could not sustain pressure. Even so, two wins and eleven placings from 18 starts at this track and distance, plus a strong record with Takayuki Yano, make her a major player.

Has been beaten a long way at both recent Kawasaki runs, finishing last behind My Bridge last start at long odds after giving away a big start and never entering the picture. The start prior was no better, last behind Uptown Girl and beaten over 20 lengths when unwanted in the market. A class drop is not enough on its own, and she needs a far stronger finish to trouble these.

Back after a one-month freshening following a second-last finish over 800m at Urawa, beaten over 16 lengths by Supercycle when unwanted in the market. Her previous run was also weak, last behind Tete D'Or and beaten over 18 lengths. The rise in trip is flagged as some help, but she is unplaced in all eight starts this season and must lift sharply.

Returns from a six-week freshening after finishing fourth at Kawasaki, but the margin tells the story as she was tailed off behind My Bridge despite catching the eye late from a long way back. Her prior fifth behind Key Fine was more competitive, beaten two and a half lengths at big odds. Still, she is unplaced from 13 starts overall and from 12 tries at this track and distance, so the task remains steep.

Settled miles back and made no impression when eighth at Kawasaki last start, beaten over 12 lengths by Velos after being unwanted in the market. That followed a last placing here behind Schweigen, beaten over 11 lengths despite being near the top of an open market. Third-up fitness and a class drop are positives, but she needs to rediscover a much stronger closing effort.

Made no late impression when seventh at Funabashi last start, beaten over 10 lengths by Proud Park as an outside chance in betting. The run prior was far more appealing, charging home for second behind Another Moon and missing by half a length at big odds. Four wins and four placings from twelve starts at 1400m give him a base to rebound into the minor money.

Second-up after a weak Kawasaki return, finishing second last behind Velos and beaten over 18 lengths when unwanted in the market. Her previous fourth over 900m here was much better, beaten a length and a half after sitting behind the leaders and holding on okay. The track-and-distance record is sound, but last start leaves her with plenty to prove.

HIROSHI YAUCHI

Comes through two honest Funabashi 1200m placings, most recently second behind Takaichi Ascot when beaten two lengths and near the top of betting. The start prior was also sound, third to Oden Ruby and beaten just under three lengths from an outside-chance market position. He is still a maiden and rises to 1400m from a wide barrier, but his current consistency gives him the strongest winning platform.
