Genuine tempo with Minister Garrett and Fabs Cuz up front. SLUGWORTH (6) ran a good race when second at a recent Goondiwindi picnic meeting over 1800m, and an extra 200m here is ideal at this stage of his prep. Zac Wadick in the saddle is a strong lead, and he can go one better. AURORA EFFECT (7) is knocking on the door after finishing less than a length from the winner over 2200m at Grafton last time out. That effort was full of merit and another bold showing is expected. FABS CUZ (2) looks hard to beat after a strong third at Moree over 1600m, racing on the speed throughout and beaten by a length and a half. He has won at his only attempt over this trip and looks ideally placed to strike again. COMPADRE (1) will find this easier than his last start at Muswellbrook, and stepping up to 1900m will help him. With some luck from a wide gate, he is good enough to figure in the top 4. EVONY (8) has found the line nicely in her last couple of starts, and an extra 300m to travel here is the key.
