SAGA   20 Sep 2026

GOING:

Race 5 1300m

Track:

Not much early pressure but Hagakure Top, Oguna and Ohhappy can take up forward spots. OGUNA (2) looks close to a win after going under by a nose to Explode at this track and that effort reads well because he was near the top of an open market and fought right to the line. The only reservation is that his Kochi 3yo COND run prior was plain, but his 1300m profile puts him on top. TREN DORADO (4) is the main danger if she rebounds from a poor 900m run behind Odai; her previous second to Meisho Hayase, beaten just under a length, is the form that makes her a serious player. OHHAPPY (3) has not been finishing in the first half of the field, yet the latest seventh was only beaten just under two lengths and she closed off strongly with 51kg. HAGAKURE TOP (8) has minor claims through recent placings.
1 85866 MINE TOP STAR
TORU YAMADA
3YO  DK B  COLT 56.0KG
Tetsuma Mine
Finished sixth at Saga last start, beaten a length and a half by Meisho Poirot after settling rearward, which was a sharper result than his price suggested despite being unwanted in the market. The start prior was much weaker, beaten over 14 lengths by Odai at long odds after conceding a huge start. He did have a recent edge over Ohhappy, but the 21-start maiden record keeps the winning case limited to place hopes.

TADAYOSHI IKEDA

KSHD
Went within a nose of winning at Saga last start when second to Explode, looming and fighting hard after being near the top of an open market. That was a decisive turnaround from his last placing in a Kochi 3yo COND, where he was beaten over 13 lengths. He has placed twice from three runs at the distance and the rider has already placed on him, so this looks the right race for him to break through.
2
TAKU KAWASHIMA
RED, WHITE SLEEVES, Black cap
3 84777 OHHAPPY
YUKITO SANKODA
3YO  DK B  FILLY 51.0KG
Takahiro Okada
Closed strongly from an impossible-looking spot when seventh at Saga last start, beaten just under two lengths by Meisho Poirot, so the finish was better than the position reads. Her previous run was plain, beaten over 16 lengths by Mikki Parasol after getting well back and making no impression. The light 51kg helps offset the maiden record, and she is capable of turning the recent late strength into a sharper result.

GOTO MUSASHI
WHITE, RED V, RED SLEEVES, Red cap
4 43228 TREN DORADO
TOSHIMITSU KUNICHI
3YO  CHESTNUT  FILLY 54.0KG
Tadachiyo Osada
Was disappointing at Saga last start, finishing eighth over 900m and beaten over 14 lengths by Odai despite being near the top of an open market. The run prior is the stronger guide: second to Meisho Hayase, beaten just under a length after being pipped late. She has placed in three of nine overall and once from one run at this distance, so a return to that earlier form makes her a major contender.
4
JUN TANAKA
RED, WHITE DIAMOND BAND, Blue cap
5 09x08 CHICA MALLORQUINA
MASHIMA NIIYA
3YO  DK B  FILLY 54.0KG
Hiroshi Kinoshita
Returns from a two-month break after two heavy defeats in 3yo Maiden grade, most recently eighth at Sapporo Dirt over 1700m and beaten over 20 lengths by Three Kei. She had been second last at Hakodate Dirt, beaten over 18 lengths by Sarasa Chachacha at long odds. Third-up context and a class drop help only slightly, with clear improvement required before she becomes competitive.
5
TORU TAKEYOSHI
RED, YELLOW STARS, Yellow cap
6 46575 KURINO MCQUEEN
MIYOSHI HIGASHI
4YO  BAY  HORSE 55.0KG
Yoriko Kurimoto
Finished fifth at Saga last start but was beaten nine and a half lengths by Sunrise Hunter and unwanted in the market at a huge price. His previous seventh behind Rouge Paradis was similar, beaten just over nine lengths after settling rearward and making no impression late. A past win gives him more depth than some, but his current form and track-distance record leave him with plenty to find.
6
OMI DAIKI
WHITE, BLUE BAND, SLEEVES, WHITE ARMBAND, Yellow cap
7 06800 JUNE ALLEGRO
MORIYUKI YORIMOTO
4YO  CHESTNUT  HORSE 56.0KG
Jun Yoshikawa
Offered little after appearing poised to strike when last at Saga, beaten nine and a half lengths by Meisho Poirot at big odds. The run prior was weaker again, second last to Mikki Parasol and beaten a long way after conceding a huge start. He has placed four times from 26 starts, but recent efforts give very little confidence that he can trouble the better chances here.
7
TAKUTO DEMIZU
SKY BLUE, BLUE DIAMOND CHECK, WHITE SLEEVES, BLUE HOOPS, Green cap
8 06423 HAGAKURE TOP
MICHITAKA DOI
3YO  CHESTNUT  FILLY 54.0KG

Ran third at Saga last start, but the margin tells the story, beaten out of sight by Hades Tesoro after only working home evenly at long odds. Her second to Noble Horizon two back, beaten three lengths, was a more encouraging reference and she has placed twice from two rides with Naohito Tanaka. She is a place chance on consistency, though she must find more authority to win.
8
NAOHITO TANAKA
YELLOW, MEDIUM BLUE HALVES, MEDIUM BLUE DIAMOND BAND, MEDIUM BLUE SLEEVES, YELLOW ARMBANDS, Green cap
9 83740 GIAVANNA
KINYA KITAMURA
5YO  BAY  MARE 54.0KG

Was only beaten just over four lengths when tenth to Meisho Poirot at Saga, but the comment that she did not quicken sums up the concern. Two back she tracked the speed and again failed to finish it off when fourth behind Rouge Paradis. Her overall record is modest, and the recent loss to Ohhappy makes the task harder, but she can hold minor-money claims if she sharpens late.
9
TSUBASA KAMO
GREEN, YELLOW DIAMOND CHECK, RED SLEEVES, YELLOW ARMBAND, Orange cap
10 44800 SENETSUNAGARA
TAKAYOSHI KAWADA
4YO  BAY  HORSE 56.0KG

Was second last at Saga last start, beaten six and a half lengths by Meisho Poirot after getting miles back and making no impression. His previous run was poorer again, last behind Mikki Parasol and well beaten after giving further ground late. He has placed at this track and distance before, but the recent pattern is too plain to support anything beyond a minor upset scenario.
10
HIROKI YAMASHITA
WHITE,RED RIGHT SASH, DOUBLE ARMBAND, Orange cap
11 97652 ULTRA LIO
MOTONORI MASHIMA
3YO  BAY  COLT 53.0KG

Improved sharply into second at Saga last start, beaten a length and a half by Urban King after working home evenly despite being unwanted in the market. That followed a fifth to Noble Horizon, beaten six lengths, when settling rearward at generous odds. He remains a 13-start maiden and has only one track-distance placing from nine tries, so he profiles as a genuine place hope rather than a strong win play.
11
CAMELLIA SOUTA
WHITE, NAVY CROSSED SASH, Pink cap
12 696x5 RIKKA LAURA
SHINICHI HIGASHI
5YO  DK B  MARE 54.0KG
Yukio Tachibana
Resumed with a fifth at Saga, but being beaten out of sight by Hades Tesoro after racing handy and failing to finish off is a major caution. Her previous sixth behind Anti Jamila was also plain, beaten just over eight lengths when unwanted in the market. The positive is her track-and-distance record, with one win and one place from three tries, so she can improve second-up if that past form resurfaces.

REN HASEGAWA
