GOING:

Race 3 1300m

Track:

Expecting Lizard King to find the lead but there will be plenty of pressure over the sprint course. GRIT ROAD (2) sets the standard after going under by only a neck to Nine Smile at Kochi last start, a clear step forward from her earlier fourth when beaten eight lengths behind Smith Barows. She is still a maiden and was beaten after being well found in the market, but her latest figure is the strongest exposed form in this field. LIZARD KING (1) is the main danger on profile, having placed on debut at Kochi, though he was well held by Bear Magnum and must find natural second-start improvement. MAONO SAILING (6) is better judged on the debut second to Three Going than the latest sixth behind Sansan Kic, with that first run good enough to keep him in the mix. YAMASHU (5) has placed and is race fit, but being well beaten when third behind Nine Smile leaves him needing another lift to turn the tables on the top selection.
1 2 LIZARD KING
S BEPPU
2YO  CHESTNUT  COLT 56.0KG

Placed on debut at Kochi when second to Bear Magnum over 1300m, though the margin says he was finished well held rather than truly threatening the winner. He worked home evenly and now has the advantage of race experience, with barrier 1 giving him the chance to use his natural speed. The form needs a lift, but he has enough upside at start two to be a genuine winning player.
1
SHOJI NISHIMORI
PURPLE , NAVY HALVED , NAVY DIAMOND BAND , WHITE SLEEVES, White cap
2 6842 GRIT ROAD
DAISAKU MEKUSA
2YO  BAY  FILLY 55.0KG

Lifted sharply last start at Kochi, finishing second to Nine Smile over 1300m and beaten only a neck after fighting hard late. That followed a fourth behind Smith Barows when fair to the line at long odds, so her form is trending the right way. She is still winless from four starts and has to back up that peak, but this is the clearest winning profile in the race.
2
MEGUMI JONO
GREEN, WHITE RIGHT SASH, GREEN SLEEVES, WHITE DOUBLE ARMBAND, Black cap
3 38 TOSANO RINDO
SHINJI KUDO
2YO  BAY  FILLY 55.0KG

Had no real answer last start at Kochi, finishing last behind Sansan Kic and beaten over 15 lengths after settling rearward and making no impression. The better reference is her debut third to Three Going, where she was beaten four lengths and kept finding after having work to do. Third-up fitness helps, but she must rebound sharply to be more than a place chance.
3
TAICHI NAGAMORI
RED, GREEN ARMBANDS, Red cap
4 4 MEIJO PLATINUM
SHINICHI TANAKA
2YO  BAY  FILLY 55.0KG

Finished fourth on debut at Kochi behind Bear Magnum, but that bare placing flatters the run as she was never competitive and was beaten out of sight. She settled rearward, was unwanted in the market and also finished behind Lizard King in that race. Second-up improvement is possible, but she has a sizeable gap to close on the exposed chances.
4
NAOKI KIMURA
RED, BLACK ZIGZAG CHEVRON, RED SLEEVES, BLUE DOUBLE ARMBAND, Blue cap
5 53 YAMASHU
JOJI TANAKA
2YO  DK B  COLT 55.0KG

Worked into a placing last start at Kochi, finishing third to Nine Smile, but he was never competitive and was beaten out of sight after having plenty to do. His debut fifth behind Rikea Rumba was also a long-margin defeat, so the finishing position alone cannot be taken at face value. Race fitness and the returning rider are positives, yet he profiles more as a place prospect than a win threat.
5
KONDO SHOGETSU
PURPLE, PINK ARMBANDS, Yellow cap
6 26 MAONO SAILING
SHINJI KUDO
2YO  DK B  COLT 56.0KG

Was plain last start at Kochi when sixth to Sansan Kic, beaten over 10 lengths after settling rearward, and there was no obvious excuse in the run. His debut second to Three Going is a stronger guide, as he was well-supported favourite and fought on after holding a slender lead. If he can return to that level third-up, he is a realistic place hope with some upside.
6
SEIYA TATARA
WHITE, RED RIGHT SASH, WHITE SLEEVES, RED DOUBLE ARMBAND, Green cap
7 34 KABACHITARE
HIROKI NISHIYAMA
2YO  BAY  FILLY 55.0KG

Made some late ground when fourth to Sansan Kic at Kochi last start, beaten eight and a half lengths at long odds. Her debut third behind Rikea Rumba also came by a big margin, so while she has placed at the track and distance, the substance of the form remains limited. Third-up she can run honestly, but others bring sharper claims.
7
MASAYOSHI YAMASAKI
RED, YELLOW DIAMOND BAND, RED SLEEVES, YELLOW STRIPE, Orange cap
8 45 THREE SCARLET
DAISAKU MEKUSA
2YO  BROWN  FILLY 52.0KG

Settled handy last start at Kochi but faded into fifth behind Sansan Kic, beaten nine and a half lengths at long odds. Her debut fourth behind Rikea Rumba was also beaten out of sight, leaving her unplaced from two starts at both the track and distance. The 52kg is a small help, but the recent form says she needs clear improvement.
8
NAOYUKI TSUKAMOTO
GREEN, YELLOW DOUBLE BAND, YELLOW ARMBANDS, Pink cap
