SAGA   20 Sep 2026

GOING:

Race 1 1400m

Track:

Good tempo with several going forward, primarily Rikea Rumba, Proteus Tesoro and Yui Fire. RIKEA RUMBA (1) sets the standard after making a winning debut at Kochi, where he started odds-on and won by a long way from Black Patrol. The break since is the only real unknown, but that result gives him the strongest winning profile. BREEZIN' WAY (4) is the main danger, unbeaten from one start at Saga and appealing if she handles the rise from 900m to 1400m. PROTEUS TESORO (6) is solid rather than spectacular, having won on debut here before finishing third, beaten two lengths by Breeze Hope, and that reliability keeps him in the mix. RYUNO SPARK (3) has been beaten by wider margins at his past two, but he did make ground into third two back and profiles as the value runner for the minors if he improves on his latest effort.
1 1 RIKEA RUMBA
MASHIMA NIIYA
2YO  DK B  GELDING 55.0KG

Returns after two months off following a dominant debut win at Kochi, where he was sent out odds-on favourite and beat Black Patrol by a long way on fast ground. That small-field result still reads clearly as the best single performance in this line-up. From barrier 1 he should be able to use his natural speed, and with the class drop in his favour he has the right profile to take serious beating again.

MANATO HIDA
YELLOW, BLACK CHECKS, YELLOW SLEEVES, BLUE ARMBANDS, White cap
2 23213 YUI FIRE
TORU YAMADA
2YO  DK B  COLT 55.0KG

Back after five weeks since finishing third at Mombetsu over 1000m, beaten six and a half lengths by A Shin Skuld after settling well back and never getting close enough. The win prior had more substance, scoring by two lengths from Taisei Allure when near the top of betting. His overall consistency is useful, but the rise to 1400m is a genuine query, so he needs conditions to fall neatly.
2
YOSHIKI YAMADA
ORANGE, WHITE FIVE STARS, WHITE SLEEVES, ORANGE STARS, Black cap
3 38135 RYUNO SPARK
KINYA KITAMURA
2YO  DK B  COLT 54.0KG

Made little impact when fifth at Saga a fortnight ago, beaten eight and a half lengths by Breeze Hope after giving away too much start. His previous third behind Takayoshi was sounder, as he made ground late at long odds to get into the money. The return of Omi Daiki is a plus given two placings from two rides, but he is shaping more as a minor-money prospect than a win anchor.

OMI DAIKI
WHITE, BLUE BAND, SLEEVES, WHITE ARMBAND, Red cap
4 1x BREEZIN' WAY
MOTONORI MASHIMA
2YO  BAY  FILLY 54.0KG

Returns from a four-month spell after winning on debut at Saga over 900m, beating Prayer Boss by a length and a half after making up plenty of ground and doing it with a bit in reserve. She was respected in betting there and is one from one at this track. The rise to 1400m is the new test, but the debut win had enough quality to make her a genuine winning chance fresh.
4
SHINSUKE ISHIKAWA
BLACK, GOLD CROSSED SASHES, BLACK SLEEVES, GOLD STRIPE, Blue cap
5 1x70 BLUE MISTRAL
Sameshima Katsuya
2YO  BAY  FILLY 54.0KG

Was safely held at Saga last start, finishing tenth and beaten over 19 lengths by Breeze Hope after settling rearward, with the market offering little encouragement. The run prior was also plain, beaten over 10 lengths behind Takayoshi at big odds. She is third-up and does have a prior win on the record, but recent evidence says she needs a sharp turnaround to trouble the main chances.
5
HIROKI YAMASHITA
WHITE,RED RIGHT SASH, DOUBLE ARMBAND, Yellow cap
6 13 PROTEUS TESORO
SHINICHI HIGASHI
2YO  BROWN  COLT 55.0KG

Held his form well when third at Saga last start, beaten two lengths by Breeze Hope after leading and only being run down late as one of the better-backed runners. That followed a debut win here over 900m, where he was a dominant odds-on favourite and beat Jewelry Eye by a long way. With one win and one placing from two starts, he is reliable enough to be a key place chance again.
6
ISAO YAMAGUCHI
RED, WHITE HALVES, WHITE DIAMOND BAND , SLEEVES, Green cap
7 21x89 PRAYER BOSS
TADAYOSHI IKEDA
2YO  DK B  COLT 55.0KG

Has struggled in two runs this campaign, most recently finishing ninth at Saga and beaten over 17 lengths by Breeze Hope after never getting into the race. The start prior was also a concern, finishing eighth and beaten over 11 lengths by Takayoshi at long odds. His earlier track form offers some background support, but the current form line leaves him with plenty to find.
7
TAKU KAWASHIMA
RED, WHITE SLEEVES, Orange cap
