Race 5 1400m Track: |
||||
|---|---|---|---|---|
|
Plenty of pace from Muscat Oman, Picasso Jasper and Aristocrat ahead of Whiti Te Ra. ARISTOCRAT (9) sets the standard after successive Kasamatsu wins, the latest by two lengths over this course and distance after being heavily supported into very short odds-on territory. SEIKA YUHI (8) is the class-drop runner from 3yo Maiden company, and his close Hakodate fourth two back gives him a genuine case, though he still has to overcome a poor win record and the rise to 1400m. PICASSO JASPER (1) brings the most reliable local profile, with three wins and two placings from five starts at this track and distance, and barrier 1 should help her hold a forward spot. AFRICAN BLACK (4) was two lengths behind Aristocrat last time and profiles as the place danger if the tempo is solid. LUCKY TRIGGER (10) needs to rebound from a heavy defeat but has track-and-distance placing form but Aristocrat has the current winning form and proven 1400m record to remain the horse to beat.

PICASSO JASPER
MASAYOSHI GOTO 3YO DK B FILLY 55.0KG Kazuma Ono Worked home evenly when second over 1580m at Kasamatsu last start, beaten five lengths by Bellagio Phantom after being near the top of an open market. The run prior carried more authority, winning here by a length from Whiti Te Ra after making strong late ground. Back to 1400m looks suitable, and her three wins and two placings from five starts at this track and distance make her a serious winning chance from barrier 1. |

WHITI TE RA
MASAYOSHI GOTO 3YO DK B FILLY 55.0KG Yasuyoshi Hirukawa Dropped right out after racing just off the leaders when last at Kasamatsu, beaten a long way by Tsumamigui at generous odds. She had been much better the start prior, finishing strongly for second to Picasso Jasper and beaten a length, so there is a clear peak in the recent form. Even with two wins at this track and distance, she must rebound sharply to threaten the main chances. |

MUSCAT OMAN
YOICHI KURIMOTO 3YO BAY FILLY 55.0KG Tatsuo Tanikake Made up good ground when fourth at Kasamatsu last start, beaten just over five lengths by Tsumamigui, after being a five-length second to Michael at the same track. Those efforts are honest enough without demanding a strong push, and the distance remains a query given she is winless from nine track-and-distance attempts. Place hopes are possible, but others look to have the sharper winning profile. |

AFRICAN BLACK
YUYA GOTO 3YO BLACK COLT 57.0KG Shinichi Koga Settled rearward and kept closing when second to Aristocrat at Kasamatsu last start, beaten two lengths in a race where the market had him near the top of an open betting race. That followed a long-odds third over 1580m when strong through the line behind Nefer Asti. He has one win and two placings from six at this track and distance, which points more to a sound place chance than a clear winning edge. |

FLEUR DE LUNE
HIROYOSHI KAWASHIMA 3YO BAY FILLY 55.0KG Worked home evenly for second at Kasamatsu last start, beaten four lengths by Tsumamigui after being near the top of betting. Two back she was fourth over 1580m behind Bellagio Phantom at long odds, making late ground from an unlikely spot. The recent lift is noted, and she has placed at the distance, but a two-from-25 career record keeps the winning case fairly restrained. |

MASAYOSHI GOTO 3YO CHESTNUT FILLY 55.0KG Finished sixth over 1580m at Kasamatsu last start, beaten eight and a half lengths by Bellagio Phantom despite making some late ground from a hopeless position. The previous run was more concerning, weakening after sitting handy and finishing seventh behind Nefer Asti when near the top of betting. Her two track-and-distance wins and proven rider record help, but she needs a firmer response. |

PALETTE FLAVOR
HIDEO MORIYAMA 3YO BAY FILLY 55.0KG IR Racing Returns from a five-week freshening after finishing second last in a 3yo+ ALLOW over 1200m at Chukyo, beaten just over seven lengths and unwanted in the market. She had also been safely held over 1200m at Kokura, finishing 12th at long odds. The class drop gives her a softer assignment, but the rise to 1400m is another query and her last 12 months read poorly. |

SEIKA YUHI
T TAGUCHI 3YO BAY COLT 57.0KG Masaru Kume Returns from a five-week freshening with a chance to reset after finishing last in a 3yo Maiden over 1200m at Sapporo, beaten six and a half lengths after conceding a huge start. His Hakodate fourth two back was much better, beaten a length and a half despite being unwanted in the market. The class drop is important, but the 1400m rise and winless 17-start record keep this from being straightforward. |

ARISTOCRAT
HIROSHI SASANO 3YO DK B FILLY 55.0KG Thoroughbred Club Ruffian Co. Ltd. Made it three straight wins with a two-length Kasamatsu success over African Black last start, travelling sweetly before quickening as a heavily backed odds-on chance. She had been just as dominant the run prior, beating Tsumamigui by five lengths as a short odds-on favourite. Three wins from three at this track and distance is a compelling local record, and her current form makes her the runner they must beat. |

LUCKY TRIGGER
YUYA GOTO 3YO CHESTNUT FILLY 55.0KG Settled rearward and never threatened when seventh over 1580m at Kasamatsu last start, beaten over 12 lengths by Bellagio Phantom after being unwanted in the market. She was more competitive two back when third to Picasso Jasper, though beaten six lengths and only battling on. The return to 1400m helps and she has placed three times from five here at the trip, but the latest run demands caution. |
