Without a designated pacemaker it will probably turn into a dash home. ROCK'N' BEAT (5) gets the first look in a race where the exposed form is thin and several have been well beaten of late. He was fifth on debut over 820m at Sonoda, beaten ten lengths after sitting handy and not finishing off, but he still had Umesuisho behind him and should take benefit from that first race experience. GAMILA'S SAIPAN (2) has the most obvious recent-form rating support and maps midfield, though her last two Sonoda runs were plain and the drop back from 1400m is a genuine query. UMESUISHO (3) was near the top of betting on debut before battling, and the light weight keeps her in the discussion if she improves second-up. UCHU KAIZOKU (7) has been safely held in two 820m runs but did battle on last start, while KATSU YOZAN (6) needs to rebound from a weak latest effort to fill a placing.

The run prior was no stronger, finishing last in a five-runner 1400m race when unwanted in the market. The class drop is some help, but he must show far more early involvement to be a factor. |

That was only his first race experience, and he did have Umesuisho covered in the same race, which gives the form some relevance here. The rise to 1230m is the main question, but there is enough upside to make him the runner to beat if he settles. |
