GOING: S

Race 2 1400m

Track: SOFT     True

A solid tempo on the cards with Quality Chocolat heading them off. KYOEI ART (7) brings the clearest winning profile after a Kanazawa 3yo A4 second, beaten a nose by Crimson Burst, following a 3yo B4 win over Dreamers. His distance record is also the best in the field, so he sets the standard. QUALITY CHOCOLAT (2) should give the race its shape from barrier 2 and her debut second at Kawasaki gives her natural improvement claims, though she must find a sharper turn of foot. TROPICAL BREEZE (3) resumes after an eight-month break, but her debut fourth had merit and she finished off in a manner that keeps her in the main discussion. LOVE MESSAGE (9) and IVY HARUICHI (4) have place claims on assessment, yet both need to improve sharply on recent beaten margins.

KAZUMI TAKEI
3YO  BAY  COLT 56.0KG

Has been well held in two Kawasaki runs this campaign, finishing eighth last start behind Riko Walleye after settling too far back and never threatening. The start prior was weaker again, ninth behind Cutie Phaethon and beaten over 18 lengths at long odds. One win from 19 and no placing from ten attempts at this track and distance leave him with a steep task despite the class drop.

2 2 QUALITY CHOCOLAT
KATSUYOSHI UCHIDA
3YO  CHESTNUT  FILLY 54.0KG

Returns from a six-week let-up after a debut second at Kawasaki, beaten seven lengths by Cutie Phaethon on fast ground. She lacked the turn of foot to make a serious winning challenge, but did place at her only start and the class drop adds some support. From barrier 2, she can press forward and has enough upside to be a major player if she sharpens off that first look.
2
TAKAYUKI YANO
YELLOW, Black cap
3 4x TROPICAL BREEZE
Satoru Furusawa
3YO  BAY  FILLY 54.0KG

Resumes after an eight-month break following a debut fourth at Kawasaki, beaten five and a half lengths by Canal Gale. She was near the top of an open market that day and picked up nicely in the straight, which gives the run more substance than a plain unplaced finish. The absence is the obvious query, but her only race start points to enough ability for this grade.
3
YUKI FURUOKA
RED, BLACK CHECKS, BLACK SLEEVES, Red cap
4 7x8 IVY HARUICHI
Hiroyuki Mogi
3YO  BAY  FILLY 54.0KG

Was disappointing second-up at Kawasaki over 900m, finishing eighth behind Action Briquet and beaten over 15 lengths despite being near the top of an open market. She was also safely held on debut as odds-on favourite behind Bright Melody. The rise to 1400m is another question, so her place chance rests on producing far more than she has shown so far.

NIIHARA SHUMA
BLUE, GREEN ZIGZAG CHEVRON, SLEEVES, YELLOW ARMBANDS, Blue cap
5 8x666 RYUNO MINAMI
HIROMI YAMAZAKI
3YO  BAY  FILLY 54.0KG

Has finished sixth at both Kawasaki runs this campaign, most recently beaten just over eight lengths by Riko Walleye when unwanted in the market and never likely from back in the field. The run prior was also plain behind Cutie Phaethon. A minor track-distance placing is the main positive, but she needs to settle closer and finish off stronger to trouble these.
5
KOSUKE SAKURAI
HOT PINK, Yellow cap
6 62x9 UHURU
HIROMI YAMAZAKI
3YO  BAY  FILLY 54.0KG

Could not make an impact first-up at Kawasaki, finishing ninth behind Riko Walleye and beaten over 14 lengths after fading late at big odds. Her older 2yo COND second behind Estrela Reza reads much better, with only half a length separating them, but that form was not repeated fresh. She has a track-distance placing, yet must bounce back sharply to be competitive.
6
HARUKU SANO
WHITE, RED STRIPES, BLUE SLEEVES, RED ARMBANDS, Green cap
7 x0112 KYOEI ART
Yutaka Nagatomo
3YO  BAY  GELDING 56.0KG
Haruo Tanaka
Was pipped on the post at Kanazawa last start, finishing second in a 3yo A4 and beaten a nose by Crimson Burst at long odds. That backed up a strong 3yo B4 win at Kanazawa, where he beat Dreamers by a length after firm market backing. With one win and one placing from two runs at the distance and the best recent profile in the race, he looks the runner they all have to beat.
7
TSUBASA SASAGAWA
YELLOW, RED RIGHT SASH, Orange cap
8 8858x PASSION ROSA
HIROMI YAMAZAKI
3YO  CHESTNUT  FILLY 52.0KG

Back from a ten-month break after finishing eighth in a Mombetsu 2yo COND over 1100m, beaten eight and a half lengths and unwanted in the market. Her previous fifth at the same trip carried the same margin at big odds, so there is little recent strength to lean on. The light weight helps, but the rise to 1400m asks a fresh question and she must improve clearly.
8
YUMA KATO
DENIM, SKY BLUE RIGHT SASH, STRIPE SLEEVES, Pink cap
9 44x77 LOVE MESSAGE
H SASAKI
3YO  CHESTNUT  FILLY 54.0KG

Steps out third-up after two safely held Kawasaki runs, the latest a seventh behind Riko Walleye when beaten over 11 lengths at long odds. She had also been beaten over 16 lengths the run prior, so the recent margins are hard to ignore. The class drop and fitness give her some place appeal in a thin race, but her one placing from 13 starts keeps the winning case limited.
9
GENKI FUJIMOTO
YELLOW, WHITE CHECKS, YELLOW SLEEVES, NAVY ARMBAND, Pink cap
