His distance record is also the best in the field, so he sets the standard. QUALITY CHOCOLAT (2) should give the race its shape from barrier 2 and her debut second at Kawasaki gives her natural improvement claims, though she must find a sharper turn of foot. TROPICAL BREEZE (3) resumes after an eight-month break, but her debut fourth had merit and she finished off in a manner that keeps her in the main discussion. LOVE MESSAGE (9) and IVY HARUICHI (4) have place claims on assessment, yet both need to improve sharply on recent beaten margins.

The start prior was weaker again, ninth behind Cutie Phaethon and beaten over 18 lengths at long odds. One win from 19 and no placing from ten attempts at this track and distance leave him with a steep task despite the class drop. |

She lacked the turn of foot to make a serious winning challenge, but did place at her only start and the class drop adds some support. From barrier 2, she can press forward and has enough upside to be a major player if she sharpens off that first look. |

Satoru Furusawa 3YO BAY FILLY 54.0KG Resumes after an eight-month break following a debut fourth at Kawasaki, beaten five and a half lengths by Canal Gale. She was near the top of an open market that day and picked up nicely in the straight, which gives the run more substance than a plain unplaced finish. The absence is the obvious query, but her only race start points to enough ability for this grade. |

Hiroyuki Mogi 3YO BAY FILLY 54.0KG Was disappointing second-up at Kawasaki over 900m, finishing eighth behind Action Briquet and beaten over 15 lengths despite being near the top of an open market. She was also safely held on debut as odds-on favourite behind Bright Melody. The rise to 1400m is another question, so her place chance rests on producing far more than she has shown so far. |

That backed up a strong 3yo B4 win at Kanazawa, where he beat Dreamers by a length after firm market backing. With one win and one placing from two runs at the distance and the best recent profile in the race, he looks the runner they all have to beat. |

The light weight helps, but the rise to 1400m asks a fresh question and she must improve clearly. |
