SONODA   11 Sep 2026

GOING:

Race 11 1230m

Track:

Expecting King Spica to find the lead but there will be plenty of pressure over the sprint trip. KING SPICA (9) sets the standard despite resuming, having won his past two supplied runs at Sonoda as a short odds-on favourite and with strong 1230m credentials. SILENCE TIME (4) is the immediate danger after charging home to beat Daijobanai narrowly last start, and his six wins from nine starts at this track and distance give him a firm base. DAIJOBANAI (6) was only beaten a head in that same race and can improve second-up, though he must turn the tables. MIGRATEUR (1) gets weight relief and has sound Sonoda statistics, but the drop back to 1230m is a genuine query. KEIAI LOVAGE (8) brings honest enough recent margins but lacks the winning edge at this course and distance.

AKIHIRO TAMURA
5YO  GREY  HORSE 53.0KG
North Hills Co. Ltd.
Has strung together fourth placings, but the latest was a plain effort over 1400m here when beaten over 12 lengths by Virya after failing to finish it off at big odds. The run prior was better, beaten three lengths by Silence Time and fair to the line at long odds. Weight relief and a solid Sonoda record help, yet the 1230m record is the main reason he profiles more as a place hope than a win anchor.

Takao Matsuoka
Returns from a six-month break after closing late for third over 1400m here, beaten three and a half lengths by Wonder Bling as an outside chance in the betting. He had earlier tracked the speed to win a 4yo+ A1A2 at Himeji over 1500m, beating King Legend by a neck. His Sonoda record is strong, but fresh at 1230m asks for a sharper sprint than recent evidence shows.

Recent form is hard to recommend after finishing second last here behind Silence Time, beaten over 12 lengths at long odds when unable to make headway. Two back he was sixth to Genius Lennon, beaten just over five lengths, albeit he picked up better late. The ten wins at this track and distance are respected, but he must rediscover that older form quickly.

Powered home to win over 1230m here last start, beating Daijobanai by a head after being near the top of betting. That followed a sound second to King Spica in a 4yo+ A1A2, beaten two and a half lengths after settling rearward. With six wins and two places from nine starts at this track and distance, he brings the right profile, though King Spica remains the key reference point.

Returns from a two-month freshening after running third to Genius Lennon in a 3yo+ A1A2 here, beaten just under four lengths at long odds after settling back. He was safely held by King Spica two starts ago, finishing sixth and beaten five lengths when unwanted in the market. Track-and-trip and jockey records are sound, but the winning case still needs a stronger recent performance.

YOSHIHIRO IIDA
5YO  BAY  HORSE 57.0KG

Was narrowly denied first-up over 1230m here, finishing second to Silence Time by a head after being unwanted in the market. That was a sharp rebound from a 1400m fourth to Satono Ruffian when beaten over 11 lengths after leading. His five wins and three places from ten at this track and distance are a major asset, and second-up improvement keeps him firmly in the winning mix.

Dropped out alarmingly after leading over 1400m here last start, finishing last and beaten out of sight by Virya. The start prior at Ohi was no better, settling rearward and finishing a distant last behind Dragon Welds at big odds. A class drop and shorter trip offer some context, but his past 12-month record is plain and a major form reversal is required.

8YO  GREY  GELDING 57.0KG

Kept himself in the contest but could not finish it off when sixth to Silence Time over 1230m here, beaten just under five lengths as an outside chance in betting. His previous fifth to Genius Lennon was similar, beaten just over four lengths after sticking on. The class drop helps and the rider returns, but no wins from four at this track and distance caps the winning confidence.

OSAMU SHIMOHARA
PURPLE, WHITE DIAMOND BAND, PURPLE SLEEVES, WHITE DIAMOND, Pink cap
9 1111x KING SPICA
RYOHEI HORI
4YO  BAY  HORSE 57.0KG

Returns from a three-month break with the strongest recent winning profile, having scored over 1230m here in a 4yo+ A1A2 by two and a half lengths from Silence Time as the odds-on favourite. He had also beaten All Parfait here the run prior as a dominant short-priced favourite. Three wins and one place from four at this track and distance, plus F Komaki's record on him, make him the one to beat if ready to fire fresh.
