GOING: S

Race 11 900m

Track: SOFT     True

Fast One and Joyful Rock can be prominent. JOYFUL ROCK (12) sets the benchmark after leading and winning by three lengths at Kawasaki last time, beating Tsutsu Uraura and confirming he is effective at this 900m course. The wide barrier is the obvious map issue, especially with FAST ONE (11) also a natural leader drawn out, but both have enough speed to press forward. Fast One arrives in excellent overall form, having beaten Presto Gaudi at Funabashi as a prohibitive odds-on favourite, though she did tire late after controlling the race. KAZU GORTYS (1) brings stronger Open-grade references and the inside draw, but must turn around two plain efforts. MUUMUU (4) is the closer with a genuine chance if the leaders overdo it, while SHIGERU MACH (3) resumes with proven track-and-trip form and minor claims.

MASATO TANAKA

Kazumi Yoshida
Returns from a two-month freshening after finishing 12th in a 3yo+ Open over 1150m at Fukushima Dirt, beaten just over six lengths at long odds after travelling close enough before weakening. His Kyoto Dirt eighth two back in a 4yo+ Open was also plain, with no late headway. The class drop and inside barrier give him a platform, but he must show more sharpness back to 900m.

Noriyuki Tsukidate
Improved when third at Kawasaki three weeks ago in a 3yo+ B1B2, beaten two lengths at generous odds after settling rearward. That was a clear lift on his previous last placing here over 1500m, where he was beaten over 18 lengths at long odds. He has placed twice from three at this track and distance, but still needs to build on that latest effort to trouble the main chances.

Keiko Morinaka
Returns from a lengthy spell after an eighth at Ohi over 1400m, beaten over 12 lengths when unwanted in the market. His prior Kawasaki fifth in 3yo+ A2 company was more encouraging, as he picked up well and was beaten just under six lengths after being near the top of betting. A track-and-trip win helps his case, though this still looks more a placing profile fresh.

Closed off well for fourth at Funabashi over 1200m two weeks ago, beaten a length and a half after being near the top of betting in a small field. The run prior was less convincing in COND grade when eighth at long odds and unable to finish off. Coming back in trip looks suitable enough, and if the leaders create pressure she has the finish to be dangerous late.

Let down nicely when third at Funabashi over 1200m last start, beaten a length and a half at generous odds and finishing ahead of Muumuu. That was a better run than his sixth behind Bellwood One, where he was unwanted in the market and failed to finish off. The back in trip is a small query, but he is fit and honest enough to hold a minor-money claim.

Settled rearward and never made a serious impact when sixth at Kawasaki three weeks ago in a 3yo+ B1B2, beaten just over five lengths at big odds. The start prior was also plain, finishing last behind Joyful Rock here and beaten eight and a half lengths. With no placing from nine starts at this track and distance, she needs a clear form turnaround.

TAKUTO IKETANI
RED, BLACK RIGHT SASH, RED SLEEVES, BLUE ARMBANDS, Yellow cap
7 x7x85 HASENO EXPRESS
TAKASHI HARITA
8YO  BAY  HORSE 57.0KG

Was prominent but came under pressure late when last of five at Funabashi over 1200m, beaten seven and a half lengths at generous odds. Two back he led narrowly before being swamped and beaten eight and a half lengths. His older form reads well, but he is unplaced from four starts in the past 12 months and must find a much stronger finish.
7
AKIRA HARITA
BLACK, YELLOW RIGHT SASH, STRIPED SLEEVES, Green cap
8 x4144 MAKAZE
KENICHI TAKATSUKI
6YO  DK B  MARE 53.0KG

Charged home from the rear when fourth at Kawasaki last start in a 3yo+ B1B2, beaten just over two lengths as favourite. She was also fourth behind Joyful Rock here two back, beaten four and a half lengths after being near the top of an open market. Four wins at this track and distance are a plus, but she still needs to convert that consistency into a sharper result.

Miho Mizutani
Returns from a four-month break after finishing last at Kyoto Dirt over 1200m, beaten a long way at big odds. His Niigata 12th before that offered little more, as he was unwanted in the market and could not make ground. The class drop and shorter trip may help, but he has been unplaced in all six starts in the past 12 months and needs a major lift.
9
YUKI YAMANAKA
WHITE, GREEN RIGHT SASH, WHITE SLEEVES, GREEN STRIPE, Orange cap
10 103x5 PRIMO PYTHON
KATSUYOSHI UCHIDA
8YO  CHESTNUT  HORSE 57.0KG

Returns from a two-month freshening after finishing fifth behind Joyful Rock at Kawasaki, beaten just over six lengths despite sitting close enough at the turn. His previous third here behind Lino Destino was better, beaten just under two lengths as an odds-on favourite. The track-and-trip record is outstanding, but his latest effort says he must rebound strongly.
10
TAKAYUKI YANO
WHITE, RED DIAMONDS, GREEN SLEEVES, Orange cap
11 12151 FAST ONE
TOMOYUKI FUJIHARA
4YO  GREY  FILLY 53.0KG

Returns off a five-week freshening after winning a 3yo+ B2B3 at Funabashi, beating Presto Gaudi by just under a length as a prohibitive odds-on favourite. She led clearly and tired late but did enough, following a Urawa fifth where she was again strongly fancied. Her record with Norifumi Mikamoto is excellent, and despite the wide draw she has the speed to make this a real contest.

RED, WHITE FIVE STARS, NAVY SLEEVES, WHITE STARS, Pink cap
12 93571 JOYFUL ROCK
MASAKAZU KAWASHIMA
4YO  DK B  HORSE 57.0KG

Returns from a two-month freshening after a dominant Kawasaki win, leading and beating Tsutsu Uraura by three lengths as an odds-on favourite. That came after a Funabashi seventh in 3yo+ B1 company when he was swamped late, so the return to this 900m set-up clearly suited. Barrier 12 means he has work to do early, but the latest win is the strongest local reference.
