Race 10 1580m Track: |

Expecting A Shin Azalea to lead Carthusian at just a moderate tempo. A SHIN AZALEA (5) looks the one to beat after stringing together a win and two placings this campaign, most recently second here when beaten a length and a half as a short odds-on favourite. She should be prominent in a race that lacks obvious pressure among the main chances. CARTHUSIAN (4) is the danger on her best work, with a strong track-and-distance profile and a recent Kasamatsu result over A Shin Azalea, though she must rebound from a plain favourite defeat. NEVERLANDREAM (2) has to turn around a heavy last-start loss, but her prior second and repeated placings at this course and distance keep her in the mix. SABUNO FUKUMUSUME (6) needs improvement off recent 1400m runs, yet the return to a winning track-and-trip suits. SUSANNA (7) is honest enough for minor money, especially if those behind the speed get their chance but A Shin Azalea is the one that gets the nod for consistency and race position.

GOOD ROMANCE
MASAYOSHI GOTO 6YO CHESTNUT MARE 55.0KG Billion Star Co. Ltd. Had the market behind her when sent out favourite here last start, but finished seventh over 1400m behind Miraculum, beaten eight lengths, and never looked a winning hope. Her previous fifth behind Klingler was also only fair after settling rearward. The return of a winning rider and a sound Kasamatsu record help, but she needs to lift sharply over the extra ground. |

NEVERLANDREAM
MASAHARU FUJITA 4YO BAY FILLY 55.0KG Yoshiaki Yonezu Was well held in 3yo+ COND company here last start, finishing last behind Pep Talk and beaten over 11 lengths after getting too far back. The run prior was much better, a second to Goko Sasu in 3yo+ C9 when beaten two lengths. She has placed three times from four starts at the Kasamatsu track and distance, so the set-up is not against her, but she must reproduce the earlier effort. |

HOKUSEN KING O
MASAYOSHI GOTO 6YO CHESTNUT GELDING 57.0KG Has been safely held at his past two, finishing sixth behind Noah Black over 1400m here and beaten over 10 lengths after failing to close off. Two back he was again sixth, beaten eight and a half lengths by Unsung Heroine at generous odds. He has placed at this track and distance, but the win record there is thin and the rise in trip is another query. |

CARTHUSIAN
HIROYOSHI KAWASHIMA 4YO BAY FILLY 55.0KG U.Kimura B. Disappointed as favourite in 3yo+ C3 company here last start, finishing sixth behind Curren Iverson and beaten eight and a half lengths after travelling handy enough. Her second to Wisteria Bell two back was far stronger, beaten just a length in 3yo+ C1 company at big odds. Proven at the Kasamatsu track and trip and with recent form over A Shin Azalea, she can rebound if that latest run is forgiven. |

A SHIN AZALEA
HIROSHI SASANO 4YO DK B FILLY 55.0KG Continued a consistent campaign when second here last start in 3yo+ C6 grade, beaten a length and a half by All My Time after racing right on the speed as a short odds-on favourite. She had earlier run third behind Wisteria Bell in 3yo+ C1 company, beaten two and a half lengths. The distance record is place-heavy rather than winning, but her current form and on-pace pattern give her the strongest race shape. |

SABUNO FUKUMUSUME
YOSHIFUTO MIZUNO 5YO BROWN MARE 52.0KG Improved slightly when fifth behind Miraculum over 1400m here last start, beaten six and a half lengths, though she was still only fair through the line and was at long odds. Her previous run was a distant last behind Klingler, beaten over 12 lengths. The return to a winning Kasamatsu track-and-distance is a genuine positive with 52kg, but she profiles more as a minor-money hope than a winning threat. |

SUSANNA
YOICHI KURIMOTO 4YO BAY FILLY 55.0KG Yukio Baba Lifted last start when third behind Ric Noir in 3yo+ C5 company here, beaten just over two lengths after settling rearward at long odds. Her prior sixth behind Klingler was less convincing, though she did make some late ground from well back. A Kasamatsu record of one win and ten placings from 26 starts shows she is often competitive here, but the extra trip still has to be answered. |

MO MO BROWN
MASAHARU FUJITA 4YO BAY HORSE 57.0KG Has finished last at his past two and the margins make difficult reading, beaten over 10 lengths by Miraculum here last start after settling rearward and making no impact. He was beaten over 17 lengths by Hikaruno Nagi two back in 3yo+ C8 company. A leading jockey goes on, but he is unplaced in five attempts at the distance and needs major improvement. |
