GOING: S

Race 1 1400m

Track: SOFT     True

Genuine pace with Tosen Memoria taking up the running ahead of Blue Radical and Gomez. GOMEZ (7) is the clear starting point after a four-length Kawasaki win as a well-supported favourite, and she maps to stay within striking range again. BLUE RADICAL (11) has the right recent profile to test her, but he was beaten six lengths by Gomez at Kawasaki three weeks ago and needs to turn that form around from a wide draw. TOSEN MEMORIA (8) resumes off a narrow Urawa second and brings a strong overall record, with her likely early speed important to the shape of the race. LUSCIOUS BALLAD (2) also resumes and has placed at the track and trip, though the maiden record keeps the confidence measured. NONSTOP GIRL (5) is harder to recommend on the win after a heavy defeat, but her broader place record keeps her in the minor mix.

KAZUMI TAKEI
6YO  BAY  MARE 54.0KG
Mill Farm Co. Ltd.
Worked home evenly when ninth at Kawasaki last start, beaten eight lengths by Narino Dream after starting at big odds. The run prior was more competitive, finishing fifth behind Siena Titicaca and beaten just under three lengths, though she still failed to threaten. A track-and-trip win sits in the background, but her recent 12-month record leaves her needing a clear lift.

SATOSHI KODA
4YO  DK B  FILLY 54.0KG

Returns from a three-month break after closing the last campaign with a second at Kawasaki, beaten four lengths by Queen's Kayanohime after settling rearward and being respected in an open market. That was a better effort than her previous seventh on good ground, where she was safely held at long odds. Still a maiden after 17 starts, but the inside draw and distance placings keep her among the main hopes.

Yuta Onodera
Settled handy but offered little when tenth at Kawasaki last start, beaten over 16 lengths by My Bridge at long odds. Two back she made some ground for fifth behind Uptown Girl, though still beaten six and a half lengths. The past track-and-trip win and class drop give some context, but her current form has too many holes to recommend strongly.

FRANCISCO GONCALVES
RED, BLUE DOUBLE ARMBANDS, Red cap

MASAYOSHI YAGI
8YO  GREY  MARE 52.0KG

Finished last over 900m at Kawasaki last start, beaten seven lengths by Tanoshisa after settling rearward and conceding too much start. Her previous run was also plain when second last behind Siena Titicaca, beaten over 11 lengths at long odds. The return to 1400m and light weight suit better, but recent performances make her hard to promote beyond a rough place scenario.

KAZUMI TAKEI
6YO  BAY  MARE 54.0KG

Was second last at Kawasaki most recently, beaten over 20 lengths by My Bridge after settling a long way back and failing to improve. That followed a seventh behind Siena Titicaca when sent out favourite, so the market had expected better than she delivered. Her overall place record is respectable and the class drop helps, but she looks more a minor-money hope than a win play.

TERUKAZU IMAI
6YO  CHESTNUT  MARE 54.0KG
Shota Matsuya
Returns from a two-month break after finishing eighth at Kawasaki, beaten over 10 lengths by Uptown Girl, though she did work home fairly from a hopeless position. Her Urawa run before that was no better than sixth over 2000m when favourite and unable to quicken. A past Kawasaki 1400m win is relevant, but current form still asks for improvement.
6
HIROTO ITO
GREEN, WHITE DOUBLE BAND, MEDIUM BLUE SLEEVES, WHITE ARMBANDS, Yellow cap
7 82x61 GOMEZ

4YO  BAY  FILLY 54.0KG
Hiroshi Hatasa
Strode away to win by four lengths at Kawasaki last start, beating Pure Lien after travelling like the winner, and the market had her as a well-supported favourite. That also gave her the recent head-to-head edge over Blue Radical. Her previous sixth was a major failure, but she is now third-up, proven at the track and trip, and has the right on-pace pattern to take beating again.
7
GENKI FUJIMOTO
YELLOW, WHITE CHECKS, YELLOW SLEEVES, NAVY ARMBAND, Green cap
8 3x72x TOSEN MEMORIA
SATOSHI KOKUBO
6YO  GREY  MARE 52.0KG

Returns from a five-month break after a narrow Urawa second, beaten a neck by Mush Bright after being run down late while prominent in betting. Her earlier Kawasaki run was weaker, fading out after leading and finishing seventh behind Uptown Girl. The strong career strike-rate and light weight are positives, but she needs to bring the Urawa version first-up.
8
YOSHIMI NAKASHIMA
LIGHT BLUE, YELLOW CHECKS ,BLACK SLEEVES, LIGHT BLUE STRIPE, Green cap
9 x898x LADY HANAKO
YOICHI TANABE
4YO  CHESTNUT  FILLY 54.0KG

Returns from a three-month break after finishing eighth at Kawasaki, beaten over 11 lengths by Riko Stechkina when giving away a huge start. The run prior was another rearward effort, ninth behind the same winner and unwanted in the market. With no wins from 14 starts and little recent impact, she needs a much sharper race shape and finish.
9
YUKI FURUOKA
RED, BLACK CHECKS, BLACK SLEEVES, Orange cap
10 05369 KURUME MITCHI
YOICHI TANABE
6YO  CHESTNUT  HORSE 56.0KG
Kunihisa Motogi
Settled well back and never looked likely when ninth at Kawasaki last start, beaten over 13 lengths by Velos after being unwanted in the market. Two back he was sixth behind Schweigen, again from a rearward position. His Kawasaki 1400m record is the saving grace, but he must settle closer or produce a far stronger finish to be a factor.
10
KOSUKE SAKURAI
HOT PINK, Orange cap
11 168x3 BLUE RADICAL
KENICHI TAKATSUKI
4YO  GREY  HORSE 56.0KG
Jingyi Xiao
Placed first-up at Kawasaki when third behind Gomez, beaten six lengths after being close enough to win if good enough. That form leaves him with a clear task to reverse the result, but he has won three times in the past 12 months and the 1400m looks suitable. From the wide draw he needs early control, yet his overall profile keeps him a genuine danger.
11
WADA JOJI
YELLOW, Pink cap
12 98875 ANGELA CAFE
MASAMI YAMADA
7YO  DK B  MARE 54.0KG
Kyoko Nishikawa
Picked up nicely late when fifth at Kawasaki last start, beaten seven and a half lengths by Gomez at big odds. She had also worked home fairly without threatening two back behind Schweigen, so the pattern is honest enough for lower exotics rather than a strong winning case. A track-and-trip win is useful, but she still has ground to make up on Gomez and Blue Radical.
