Several of these have good gate speed so a strong tempo is expected. SHAVASANA (2) is honest and consistently around the mark, and she meets a fairly modest field here. She has been freshened up since finishing just behind the placegetters over 1200m at Otaki nearly 8 weeks ago over 1200m. Dropping back to 1000m is ideal, and she is the one to beat. SHAMELESS STAR (3) resumed in excellent order, charging home late to be beaten by a short-head over 1000m at this track. Her only win has come second up, and she can have the last say here. MAROTIRI MARSTA (1) returns from a break. He didn’t feature at his only run last prep when fifth over 1200m at Otaki on Boxing Day. He comes to hand quickly and is not the worst in this field. CHAMPAGNE WISHES (6) made a pleasing return when third over 1200m at Tauranga 4 weeks ago. She cops another good gate, and she can figure in the top 3 again. BODACIOUS KATE (5) won't lack fitness on a 6-day backup, and in this sort of field, she must be respected. Include in all top 4 combos in a small field. SUGGESTED PLAY: Shavasana can win this.
