Barbaresco, Mastership and Quatermain to take up the running at a decent tempo. BARBARESCO (1) has been racing in Grade 1 company most recently and will notice the class drop here. He won his only attempt over this distance. S'manga Khumalo is booked to ride and if not in need of this outing, he should be too good for this field. GUY GIBSON (4) ran a fair race for fifth in Stake company last time out. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He can challenge the top pick with the right run in transit. SUKHUMVIT (8) is better than her last start over 2000m at the Vaal. She returns from a 19-week break which would have done her the world of good. She gets in with a light weight and should give a good account of herself in this. A market watch is advised. MASTERSHIP (2) is better than his last start over 1800m. He is unbeaten from two starts on this track over the distance and will be looking to keep that record intact.
