Plenty of early pace from Bartime, Yankee Lima and Butterlea Lad primarily. LAUTRE (3) finished runner-up for the second time in a row in the Carnarvon Cup last week and won't lack fitness as he has been kept busy with plenty of racing. He has placed on this track in the past and is drawn to receive the run of the race early on after drawing in the pole position. Hard to beat. BARTIME (5) is still building up his fitness and was runner-up at Belmont over a mile 3 weeks ago. That sort of form will more than hold up in this race and his first run over a middle distance could be successful. BUTTERLEA LAD (1) was too good in the Mount Newman Cup 3 weeks ago and won't have any issue with the drop back to 1800m. He has earned his top weight and he is expected to give another good account of himself. KENTUCKY BLUE (8) did not cope with the Junction circuit last start and that run is best forgotten. His form prior was very good and the step up to a more suitable journey should see him bounce straight back into the money. Don't drop him. SUGGESTED PLAY: Lautre to win.
