WONDER ETOILE (2) sets the benchmark in a moderate Sonoda 1400m contest, having finished second at her past two starts in 3yo+ C3 company and been respected in the market both times. She has been beaten four lengths and just under two lengths in those runs, so the winning turn is close if she can sustain her effort late. PIECE D'ARGENT (8) is the clear danger after a better second behind Civic Charles at generous odds, and his track-and-distance record gives that run some substance, though he must prove it was not just a one-off spike. SAKURA TOP CROSS (5) has to rebound from a plain sixth behind Offshore Girl, but the third to A Shin Reaper two back keeps him in the place and upset mix. NISHINO FOUR LEAF (1) was well held last time, yet his deeper Sonoda 1400m record gives him some minor-money appeal if he finds his earlier effort.
