A solid tempo on the cards with Orsome Dude heading them off. JACK CRABB (1) flew home late for second when making his South Island debut at Riccarton just over 5 weeks ago in a tougher field. She stays at 1600m which is a query for us, and the wide gate won't help, but he is still the one to beat. LUCKY FERRANDO (2) has found it hard to win another race, and he is having no luck at all with his barrier draws. His form is sound, and he can figure in the top 4 again. STAPHANOS QUEEN (4) would probably prefer more ground than 1600m, and her recent form since winning fresh up has not been good. A wet track would enhance her prospects, and she is worth one more chance. FLAT STANLEY (5) is another disappointing performer after showing some good promise earlier on. He has a nice draw, and if his head is in the right frame, then he can figure in the finish. SAINT BRIGID (8) has yet to fire since relocating from the North Island, but her last run was an improvement on her fresh up effort. Stick with her at good odds. SUGGESTED PLAY: Jack Crabb to win, and Saint Brigid at bolter's odds.
