Tricky one to map with a number of debutants but over this trip there is good speed anticipated. The draws complicate this further. The safe option is GEEGEES MERCEDES (10) who was close to a win before a break. Recent trial winner and with the race experience should go close fresh. VABUIAGI (14) finished off last campaign below best but the start prior was a strong debut when runner-up over 1100m. Fitter for two recent trials and can run a bold race. There is a host of first starters trialling well but the majority drawn wide out. GOLD ARMOUR (2) is a three-year-old gelding on debut from the stable of John Blacker. By Hanseatic from Burnished. Comes here off a Hobart trial. Nice drawn and looks a top-three chance. BALLERINI (7) is a filly by Needs Further making her debut and is trialling well including a win most recently. Showing good ability in trials but will need some luck from a wide draw. ANASAZI (6) is a first starter by Dirty Work out of Medea. runner-u recent trial but tricky draw to overcome. SUGGESTED PLAY: Stay with Geegees Mercedes.
