Cesar Bessan is expected to lead at a keen tempo. MR MARKLE (2) is a consistent gelding who tried hard out to 1200m at Mildura last time out having charged home to just miss over this trip at Mornington the start prior. He did struggle his only go heavy but he was fine on a soft 6 there, expect he's hard to hold out. FIRST DIVISION (6) doesn't win out of turn but put in a good one last start at Hamilton on very heavy ground over 1100m when third. She draws nicely and can break through. THE MARINER (3) is another who battles away, 5 from 57 but three placings on heavy ground and 3 wins on soft. The placing two back at Horsham on heavy was good and Meech should rate him perfectly. LORD PORCHESTER (1) resumes with good heavy track form, respecting. CHARMING DI (5) perhaps next best. SUGGESTED PLAY: Mr Markle on top.
