Pace strong with Star Intrigue and Whateley leading with Rothgate nearby.
WHATELEY (3) went for an eight-week let-up and the break did wonders as he improved sharply last start to finish third over 1280m at Muswellbrook. Won at the same stage last prep over today's journey at Cranbourne. Looks ready to make his mark at the third run for the new stable. LANG PARK (7) scored impressively two back over this distance at Wagga then found the leap to provincial company too steep last time. Awkwardly drawn but can bounce back in this more suitable assignment. FLAMBOYANT LAD (6) started favourite but was a touch disappointing at Warren recently. Good effort two back at Muswellbrook - in the mix if he recaptures that form. CROWN LEGEND (15) carried 1kg more and wasn't far away in a similar race here two back. Major contender with the help of a favourable barrier. STAR INTRIGUE (10) went awfully last time. Much better than that so don't write him off. SUGGESTED PLAY: Keen to be on Whateley.
