GOING: S(5)

DRUMMOND & ETHERIDGE OAMARU 1400m

Track: SOFT 5     True

Maria Pilar has good early speed and can set a decent tempo. FRENCH DOLL (3) put in a bold effort fresh up in her first start from the powerful Joe Waldron stable when finishing runner-up by half a length at Wingatui 2 weeks ago. The extra 200m second up is the perfect next step, and even from a tricky gate, she can go one better here. FABLUE (5) ended her last prep contesting a G3 race at Trentham, and she will be fresh up after a decent spell. A recent trial will help her condition, and if she is ready, then she will be among the toughest to beat in this field. Check the market. MARIA PILAR (11) got back fresh up and was unable to run on as expected. She will be better for that hit-out, and she can finish a lot closer this time. Each way value. TYCOON PRINCE (4) has been thereabouts in a couple of starts since progressing to this grade. He maps to receive a run that will suit him, and he is worth including in all combos to be safe. GO LOTTE (1) charged home late to finish second last time out, and on her day she can win this. Go again. SUGGESTED PLAY: French Doll to win.
