BETTLES (1) was given time to settle from an outside draw last time then wound up strongly in the straight for an eye-catching third over 2400m at Kyoto. Has a great record at this journey with two wins from six starts and should be hard to stop. OSTRAVA (12) scored a commanding victory at Nakayama over 2500m at his latest appearance on April 5, the only time he faced the starter in that campaign. Akihide Tsumura who has scored on him three times retains the mount. Leading contender. SPEED RICH (5) performed above expectations when resuming last time over 2400m at this track, finishing one length from the winner in second after starting at huge odds. Top-three aspirations. JOY BOY (8) was last at the races when he got the cash over 2200m at Kyoto on October 18. One to consider.
